The michigan player was sliding, he wasnt in a position to draw the charge ,\

It is either a no call but 99% of the time that is a player with the ball making a move and getting blocked so foul on Michigan,

That was huge, I think we were down 4-5 at the time and they get the ball instead of us getting free throws..

The hawks didnt play great, they actually made fewer turnovers than I thought, they made some stupid decisions on the fastbreak,

but really this was a big missed call

How many of you were screaming at your tvs????

Agreed a really bad call, but it didn't cost us the game. That said, it was a pretty bad call. Pretty ballsy.

A lot of things cost us this game, there was some really bad blocking out on rebounding, there were some really bad early turnovers, we didnt make some wide open shots, I thought we were not aggressive enough of some fast breaks.

But that charge call was at a really crucial time. We get 2 free throws instead they get a bucket or a trey

Typical home court call - loss tonight not on the officials though just got outplayed

th

CHARGING! MICHIGAN BALL!

I was 7 rows away from the call as it happened and all I can say is that it was truly horrendous. I started clapping when his hand went up cause I figured it was a blocking call, but this and the moving screen calls were completely arbitrary. Now they did out hustle us for every 50/50 rebound, and that charge was a huge momentum swing, so I would say that cost us the game it was a 5 point swing when were down by 4.

^^ exactly , it was a crucial time and the hawks got screwed.

It wasnt even close, how can you call a charge when the guy is totally sliding without establishing position,

Frig, marble had him set up for two free throws, and he makes at least one,

instead they stretch the 5 point lead to 7 or 8

Yeah, we didnt defend as well until we tried trapping in the last 8 minutes, typical road game, Iowa was outhustled, lots of long rebounds from and long bomb team

Marble dropped his shoulder slightly, then forced himself into the defender.

Correct call.

Bullsheet reply

Every guard is taught to try to get their shoulders past the defender and you know you have them beat.

you cant call a charge when the defender doesnt even have close to position

Are you a michigan or ISU fan you troll

This is pure insanity.

^^ I agree with you 340, I think it was Robinson III who drew the so called charge,

It was a bad call in real time, obviously

Then when they showed the replay, it was my gawd rob III is late to the spot, sliding his feet, that is not a charge on Marble, terrible call and that ref needs to be lectured at the least.

They're suppose to be calling the charged different this year where it's harder to get called. So I'd say with that new emphasis it should have been a no call. Still thought it was a poor decision on marble.

Marble was trying to drive to the basket, he had contact, heard the whistle and threw the ball at the hoop,

He may be making a lot of money doing that next year but the B1G refs think it is a charge

Screw you Iowa

It was a bad call, but Marble put it in the ref's hands by dropping his shoulder. The next trip the other way, S****kus got the same call because he didn't lean into McCabe, and let it look like McCabe initiated contact.

If Marble and White would learn to go straight to the basket without dipping their shoulders, they would get every call.

Bang-Bang play. Marble dropped his shoulder and initiated the contact in the eyes of the official. It's a call that we don't get on the road. I thought the refs really did a nice job in the first half. The game was fun to watch and had a great flow. They started to get a little inconsistent in the second half and this charge call on Marble was the bell-cow for that.

I thought Michigan was the hungrier team. Played their ***** off and played well. I thought the Hawks played well for the most part too - just not well enough to get over the hump against a good team on the road. Congrats to Michigan.

This was one of the few road games I've seen in a long time where I thought the refs did a decent job on both sides. There were some missed calls (the Uthoff dunk attempt where he got forearm shivered to the chest was one), but for the most part, the flow was good and they called a majority of the blatant fouls.

I go back and forth on the Marble call. Marble definitely initiated the contact and 95% of the time you get that call at home and probably 70-75% of the time you even get that call on the road. But because Marble put so much force into it and the defender fell backwards quite a ways, I think made it look worse than it really was. It certainly was an important time in the game, so you hope to get that call to get a couple points back, but at the end of the day, Michigan's hustle, offensive rebounding and limiting our transition won that game more than that single call did.

I agree with this. Marble call was questionable, but there was pretty even calls on both sides. The refs were letting them play.

There was the foot shuffle by Oleseni that could have been called. Instead, it was basket + 1. You can't get them all...

It was a foul on Marble he threw his upper body into the defender and the defenders feet do not need to be set in that situation.

Marble and Uthoff were going out of control at the hoop. That works when the refs are calling everything but it just looked silly because they clearly were not. Uthoff was unable to adapt to how the game was being called and because of that had his worst game of the year.

Sometimes you get bad calls but on the other hand you need to be able to change with how the game is being called.
