The Case For Keno

I think it is ridiculous that people are speculating so much about a job that is occupied. Since it is happening I have a question about what type of Drake cool aid is flowing. KENO? Come one people. I support Todd and since everyone has a prediction I know Iowa will be over .500 next year and in the NCAA during Gatens Sr. attending Iowa with Todd coaching. I think the fans are really not reaching high enough that Keno is the next Iowa coach. Let's go back in time 3 years when Alford walked out on the University. If Todd Licklighter "National Coach of the Year" and owner of many runs in the NCAA tourney not to mention multiple wins over top 20 teams. Some people want a guy with ZERO NCAA wins and as many years at head coach that our current coach has at Iowa. Oh and if losing 5 of 6 is bad how about KENO's losing THIRTEEN of last FOURTEEN yes 13 of 14. If you take the 2006-07 version of Todd, Keno Davis would not be allowed to hold his coaching whistle!

Keno would not be an upgrade. I think it would be a bad hire. Yes, he could be an average to above average coach, but I'm tired of average. Tom Davis was an average coach. I want a national championship type team. Keno would not be able to provide this.

I agree. Keno would be option C at this point. We CAN'T settle this time around. I personally think Keno would be "settling".

I do like the idea of Keno but my number one choice would be Scott Drew from Baylor if we could get him.

He fits the bill.....

- Turned around a program on life support in a difficult conference with little history of success
- Very good recruiter
- Good floor coach
- Midwest ties
- Great family
- Good fit for Iowa life and challenges
- Fairly young coach

Texas...you just made yourself look like a complete DB. You want a coach to come into Iowa that can lead us to a national title? Why don't we first try one that can get us back above .500, in the upper half of the Big 10, and quite possibly in the NCAA tournament!??

This isn't Kansas, Kentucky, or Duke - we have no business having expectations of a hire that will lead us to the national title.

Go back to your game of Tetris.

Me wanting a team that can challenge for a National Title, does not give you the right to call me a DB. I have the right as a fan to want that. If you don't want it, something is wrong with you.
