24 point underdog against the #2 team in the country. No one, and I repeat no one, gave Iowa a chance. I had people at work predicting 63-7. What an unbelievable win. I am ashamed and embarrassed that I doubted this team.

A great bowl bid is still possible.
 
Its the biggest upset since 1979. not to be confused with the biggest win - that's another list of games.
 
To me it was like the rich kids coming to a dilapidated playground with all their fancy new equipment and getting beat by a bunch of dirty t shirt wearing kids. There was an obvious talent gap, but the dirty scruffs showed them no respect. Good win Hawks!
 
Incredible upset! You well-up thinking about the eternal moment that the Hawks earned for themselves.

"Ashamed and embarrassed" over doubting them? No way. Not when 2005-07, 2010-2012, 2014, 2016 and all the inexplicable, inexcusable losses to inferior teams sprinkled throughout the other seasons continue to occur.

Be happy for the team when they rise above the inherent obstacles created by the stagnant, mistimed strategy and limited schemes, as the did Saturday night. It's still derKirkFeravis, so, doubt is a normal and expected state of mind. Hell, even after this, I still go into Illannoy thinking it's a 70-30 chance of winning.

Except Iowa has a lot of money, a lot.
 
Was a great night at Kinnick as always!! The defense played an inspired game, and really dominated the Michigan offense!!! Wadley played a tremendous game, and really showed that he can me an elite RB in the Big Ten.



Go Hawks, way to show pride and grit and not just lay down this season!! Go Hawks let's close out 2016 with a strong finish, and a solid bowl.
 
I don't want to start a new thread with this as I'm sure it's an easy answer and I'm just too lazy to look it up. But who is the West champ if Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Minnesota all finish 6-3? I know high unlikely and all, but I'm curious.

Why should you be ashamed or embarrassed you doubted this team. Had this team played like this against NDSU, Northwestern, Wiscy, or PSU then maybe you should have been. The fact is that based on previous performances in the losses (and even some wins) it was a game in which we all hoped we could win, but shouldn't have based on the way we'd been playing.

Terrific win, but I found myself asking does our previous struggles make the win that more pleasing, or does our win make the previous losses sting that much more?
 
Some Bob Commings team beat Penn St. in the 70s some time and that might top this. Iowa football in the Bob Commings era? Well, it wasn't pretty though I was just a kid then.
 
An underachieving Iowa team beating an over ranked M team? NO.

#1 Iowa 7 PSU 6 1976
Iowa v UCLA 1981 and though ranked 12th, Michigan 1981.


Iowa UCLA 1974 would get honorable mention.

I don't think Iowa has ever won as a 24 point underdog. It is an interesting question, but I'm just guessing. I don't have any data to support an answer
