the all to unpopular positive outlook

Sigh.
I wish herby redhawk was one of my eight alts but alas he
is not
but if he was I would be just like him
and I would mention how big the guys all are and post lots of numbers
but I not
so good with math so I avoid all that,,,big meanies
you aall miss him when he's gone even though you hate him there is
a message in there if you try to find it

Be positive is a good message losers

This team going injury free will win 9 games next year I think. It reminds me a lot of the Orange Bowl team in a lot of ways.. Lots of close losses that are going to be wins next season. I think if they avoided the injury bug this year 7 was in the cards. Most are mad at life and will disagree, see half the above posts.. but the o-line was becoming an absolute monster before half of it and Weisman went down. I will never forget Brandon getting carted off the field with a broken leg and being an absolute bad ***. I like knowing guys like him will be protecting our first year starter next year.

So you were dragonhawk thou?

when Iowa has had both a dominating OL and DL they were good, and as a RSFR and a TRUE FR, like Ballard and Claybourne were, they struggled in 2007. in 2008 the DL struggled and the team struggled until Stanzi took control of the team. then they went 9-4 and a bowl win over Missouri

Herby, our players will certainly be wiser and more experienced next year, but remember, we will still have the same coaches.

And our players would be second teamers for the upper half BoneG teams. So our coaches need to outcoach, and they have not been making good gameday or personnel decisions the last few years.

The year Stanzi took over they beat South Carolina in the bowl game, and the D-line hardly struggled that year. They werent great like in 2009 but King won B1G d lineman of the year and Kroul was solid as well at DT. Ballard and Clayborn played decent too for much of the year.

You fail again you fool.

You can make a strong case that not only was the 2008 DL better than 2009 but the entire defense was better in 2008.

2008
13 points a game
3.1 yards per rush
94 rush yards per game
27 sacks

5.5 yards per pass
197 pass yards per game

2009
15.4 points per game
3.5 yards per rush
123 rush yards per game
29 sacks

5.2 yards per pass
152 pass yards per game

2008 looked better on the front end, 2009 better on the back end. Sacks are really close. Biggest stat, points, goes to 2008

on Offense we will have the following on the OL with starting experience
RSSR VanSloten 6'7 290 lbs
RSSR Boffeli 6'5 290 lbs
RSJR Scherff 6'5 310 lbs
RSJR Donall 6'7 302 lbs
RSSO Blythe 6'3 275 lbs
RSSO Walsh 6'4 275 lbs
with RSSR MacMillan 6'6 290 lbs backing up at 4 OL spots RT, LT, RG, LG and
RSSR Clark 6'4 290 lbs backing up on the line
this is the strong suit of any Iowa offense, something that has hurt Iowa this seasoin because of injuries.
more to follow later

2012 = inexperienced MAC level talent
2013 = experienced MAC level talent

Ya think it's gonna make a diff?

Exactly. And to expand on it a bit:
2012: fat-cat coach with no motivation to win or recruit
2013: fat-cat coach with no motivation to win or recruit

I can imagine that large sums of guaranteed $$ challenges the integrity of even the noblest of characters.

I can't see how we get better with a new (inexperienced) QB. If a veteran/senior like JVB couldn't grasp this offense, how can you expect someone whose never seen the field to magically take it over?

In summary, Redherb, stop posting immediately.

OP mentions Canzeri like so many other posters. This kid is five foot nothing and 150 lbs with about five carries in his career. Lets control our expectations here can we. He is the second coming of CJFed, who despite last weeks game has been the most over rated player to ever pop a wheelie on a moped on Gilbert street in ic.

I wasn't aware size determined talent. Chicago Bears O-Line must not have gotten the memo.

The line will be fine, either way, I really don't think the O-line has been the reason for the losses.
