The 2018 Season Starts Tomorrow

This season is over. This is just a bad team on both sides of the ball.

Starting tomorrow. the freshman WRs and RBs should get the majority of the snaps in practice. Stanley needs every single snap. And it's time to start phasing out the seniors in most positions. They had their chance, and have failed miserably. Iowa should be improved next year, but the underclassman experience this year is WAY more important than limping to 6-6 and staying in Detroit over Christmas. This goes for Wadley, too. He's maybe the most overrated returning Iowa senior in program history. Young and ISM need 10+ plays a game from here on out.

If I’m a recruit and the coach plays only underclassmen once a division title is out of reach why the hell would I ever commit? As soon as I’m a junior I gotta worry about being benched for no reason.

You keep trying to win with the best players.

Or you don't have to worry about it because you're actually competent as an upperclassman. The senior WRs and RBs have not earned their positions seven games into a 12-game season.

I think Wadley is a good receiving back.....he is just being under used by poor game schemes.

Iowa sure has regressed this season thus far.

I agree that being an upperclassman shouldn’t get you any favors. The best players regardless of year should play.

Quickest way to lose a team is to give up on a season and start playing underclassmen that haven't paid their dues and/or haven't shown in practice that they deserve more time. So if you're cool with seeing that, knock yourself out...

1-3 in B1G, and after that terrible game, is actually the quickest way to lose a team.

Woulda-shoulda-coulda implies need for strategical review and change away from stagnant dogma.

Hasn't happened for 2 decades. Not gonna happen, now.

2019 Iowa will likely be good.......until then more of the same so enjoy being frustrated.

I can't think of many upperclassmen who deserve the treatment some hawk fans give them. Wadley, when used correctly. Josey. Josh Jackson as a corner.... that's about it. And it's not Their faults. They are doing absolutely everything they can and I have zero doubt about their effort. And that is half the problem of our team. The other half is being discussed on multiple other threads.

I guess I'll agree to disagree with you on "losing the team". Lost teams don't nearly beat Colt McCoy and Texas and upset a top 12 Missouri team (2006 and 2010). 2014 we just plain stunk...
2006–Ferentz himself called them “fat cats” after MN

2010–clayborn said the team lost the will to win

2014–easy schedule and many “experts” picked them to compete for division. We ended up terrible, but it didn’t need to be that way.
