What happened to this kind of play? Amazing special teams and the defense was on fire. Will the Hawks get another bowl win of this caliber under Kirk Ferentz?
Huge, guaranteed contracts with zero accountability, and a jellyfish AD who reports the football coach instead of the other way around are what happened. What happened to this kind of play? NS and the Tigers were defending national champs. Some say LSU didn't really want to be there.
I was at the game and call BS. They wanted it just as bad as Iowa did.
Yeah winning and losing skews our memories. Tate won a lot and the season ending the way it did... I'm afraid the year Stanley had will be half forgotten about because the teams season was so up and down. For a team to beat OSU (like they did) and lose to Purdue makes no sense... Stanley had a ridiculously good year yet that said his completion % has room for improvement and missing on some of the open bombs he had were noticeable.Drew Tate's stats as a sophomore - 18 TD 12 Picks, I thought he had a lot better season than that. I realize that we were down to our 4th string RB but still... Compare that to Stanley's numbers!

He did announce that he was leaving before the bowl game, but I like your line of thinking. We also beat him in '95 and '96. Only lost to him in '99 when we were less than stellar. Probably the reason he went to the SEC, to get away from us. Found that this wasn't going to work when we played in a bowl, so he bolted to the NFL.
Watch the game, that defensive line was incredible. Gives me hope that maybe we can have some similar dominance in the trenches next year. Just watch LSU’s first possession to see what I’m talking about.Just looking at that stat, tells me Iowa had a salty defense that year. But, also shows how KF can afford to let his "college players" play a little more loose and not be afraid of mistakes.

That defense was salty. Damn...the safeties would hit you. The LB's would hit you. The DL would crush you. Watch the LSU game again...our defense controlled the game until Russell showed up. It was probably the best quarter of football Russell ever played too.
And we nearly lost because of it.And Iowa's DLine got gassed because we went turtle up conservative offense and the defense played most of the 4th qtr, a typical way Iowa loses games
