That hurt-no Fran adjustments, players look tired

It also hurt to watch. I havent watched a lot of games in whole but I was expecting a big day from the hawks after playing pretty well on the road. Fran and the players had no answer or adjustment for the illini playing so tough and far out by the 3 pt line. I was expecting to see Fran have them run some set double screen plays, go to the pick and roll action, and use some back screens with back door cuts away from the ball to get some easy shots. It didnt happen and I am surprised because Fran and his coaches are usually pretty good setting up plays after timeouts and on out of bounds plays.

Anyway, it just seemed way too much dribbling, not crisp passing, and Pemsl and a few others just couldnt finish around the rim. the illini looked much more energetic the 2nd half.

In a close game like that there were a couple calls late that hurt, jok getting undercut going after a loose ball and that weird out of bounds reversal giving the ball back to the illini, but the hawks had plenty of self inflicted wounds.

What other things could Fran have drawn up to get a win/get the offense going?

I just looked at the box score and the hawks very cold shooting was a major factor. But maybe the cold shooting was a function of not getting great looks.

This was my first game in CHA in almost 3 years...it remains a sterile environment with only a couple of times the crowd got into it. I think that the environment needs to change to make it more conducive for the athletes to get into the game. How that happens is a tough situation...especially when there is a lack of student participation. Tough to play in front of a milk toast crowd.
Lastly, until we have an inside/low post entity, teams will know that they can guard our outside offense and stymie our output.

Yup. Not too surprising that teams have long and detailed scouting reports on nearly every individual player on the entire BT team list by this time of the year. Gets tougher and tougher, especially with a young team that has trouble adjusting on the fly. So, we can blame Fran, or Peter, or whomever. Listen to the Badger fans yell at their coach because people have figured out that doubling Happ will cause WI all kinds of trouble. Sometimes, the other team plays better. IL did that on defense.
