Texas Fans are unusually happy about our horrible year

I would too, it shows that the firing was justified. If our o was lighting it up they would question if Mac wasn't the problem.

Maybe because they have an outsider's perspective, but this is the most telling stat is this:

Iowa is ranked 106th in total offense, and 102nd in scoring offense.

Last year they were 63rd in total offense, and 45th in scoring offense. They returned 7 starters on offense this year, including their QB.

Nice to see Fry is still hated in areas lol. At least he left an impact and will forever be remembered.

HAHAHAHA.. umm... yeah.. Texas..

This is a good point. I actually blame Vandenberg for consistently failing to scramble 80 yards on 3rd and 15, as the scheme clearly is designed for him to do.

I mean, the guy only has one job out there on the field - look off the 3 covered WRs running 4 yard hitch routes, avoid the pass rush, pump fake a pursuing LB out of his shoes, juke another four guys, and then outrun the safeties to the endzone - and yet, he consistently fails to do his only job.

The scheme is never going to work if you can't hold up your end of the bargain, Vandenberg. Stop letting the team and the coaches down.

One of the posters put this and I laughed.

without GD and with their new OC, they went 8-5 and the offense ended up 50th in 2011, this year thru 10 games they are 8-2 with games left against TCU and KSU, another 8-5 season could happen again. at least this year they could finish in the top 30 in total offense, this compared to GD having just one season outside the top 30 in 10 + seasons, and TX recruits much better than Iowa

That thread confirms my belief that we really are just one Vince Young type of player away from being a very productive offensive.
