He's returned to practices!

He obviously isn't in football shape yet ... so it will still be a long time before he's seeing action. But that is really great news. Maybe in a month, he'll be good to go by the time we see that latter third of our schedule.

Also, given that he's now medically cleared ... that's good news about his overall health too!

assuming he is still our best option at FB, I sure hope it does not take a month to get him on the field.

The problem isn't "desire" or "cardio" (he's probably been allowed to ride a stationary bike and fast-paced walking) or "endurance" as much as contact, muscular fitness/memory, etc.

Just because he has been cleared doesn't mean the staff puts him at risk of non-cardiac injury. His health and well-being and academic curriculum trump the fortunes or misfortunes of the IOWA football team.

Of course, it sure would be nice to see his name on the depth chart sooner rather than later!

He has missed out of season conditioning, summer conditioning and fall conditioning. I am not worried about him in the offense and think he could almost be the perfect addition as he can run and block plus catch passes.

An 11/5 return for the Michigan game would be great...but I don't know that I would bet on that...and depending on the evolution of Canzeri/Bullock in pass blocking game, who knows if you want to jack with that.

If his health permits it I hope to see him back on the field. Iowa really could use a good blocking FB in the backfield.

I wasn't sure that we'd necessarily EVER get him back. Thus, the fact that he could get back and even possibly play a little bit this season is very promising. He provides an added ingredient that could make our O that much more potent ... be it this year or next year.

What if Vandy, McNutt or Prater were just cleared to play? Would we hold them out for a month too?

That is going to be a pretty scary looking backfield once Rogers gets out there with coker, both of them are huge and both can carry and catch the ball.

The Greenwood incident was a sharp reminder that the heart is nothing to fool around with,no double entendre intended. I am just happy that Brad has been cleared to practice which has to mean he is completely out of the woods physically.

Congrats to him and his family for the clean bill of health.
Now, I also agree that he could be a boost to the running back corp in the second half of the Big Ten slate. As a young guy,I cannot believe it would take him more than 4 weeks to be ready to play on a limited basis at least. That could bring him back by Minnesota or MSU in 4 to 5 weeks. He is not going to want to waste a full year of eligiblity sitting around too long.

anytime the heart is a problem, you wait as long as it takes no matter who it is, no sense in taking chances, is it really worth it to have him possibly die on the field if he wasn't completely ready

good deal. It will take a while to get his feet underneath him and back to game speed but if he can help us... one more positive thing. Nolan M, Rogers, and Lowery a little later on...

I bet he plays before a month is up. He may not be playing 50 snaps but I bet he plays before November. My guess is he plays against Indiana.
