Unless he gets hurt, I predict Xavier Williams will be starting by October.
100% agree on Patterson. I think he looks better than Washington in game time. X. Williams certainly looks the part. I would like to see a rotation of Patterson and Williams with Washington in on third downs for his pass receiving.Am I the only one confused as to why Patterson doesn't get more run? It seems like he hits the hole as well as any back, and he always runs behind his pads. They must have pretty good trust in him, they have used him fairly frequently as a 3rd down back. I always want to see more of him, but I guess the coaches know more than I.
Washington was way too high throughout the game last Saturday, both costing himself yards and opening himself up to abuse. If he doesn't get that fixed soon, he will be out of the rotation due to injury.
Yup, I agree. Although I predict Williams will eventually be starting it will still be RB by committee. With #1 getting 12 to 20 carries, #2 getting 8 to 15 carries, and #3 getting 5 to 10 carries.I wouldn't bet against that.
But, I will up the ante and say that Moulton/Patterson/anyone else (assuming they aren't injured or haven't done something offline that ticked Ferentz off) will still regularly get entire series and certain ones will get specific situations like short yardage/goal line/etc.
....unless.....
Wer're specifically talking "official" starter status. Like full-on, #1 on the depth chart, referenced as the "starter" by coaching staff. And gets the first official carry of the game. Not unpossible in this program under Ferentz that the upperclassman gets that opportunity, but Williams ends up with more carries and opportunities.
