Look at this, Syracuse had 589 yards against Maryland WOW,

Syracuse had 370 yards rushing on 51 attempts: A 7.3 ypc avg

Come on, Syracuse is not Auburn or bama, yet they totally mauled the Maryland defense running the ball.

We really know what the hawk offensive game plan should have been, hard running straight at an undersized Maryland front 7, QB under center, hard play action, 20-50 yard pass plays or occasional quick hitter passes to receivers in space; slants, TEs up the hash,

In their first game against West Virginia the Terps gave up 511 yards passing and almost 700 total yards.

Our coaches should have found some more vulnerabilities that they could have hung their game planning hat on.

Until the hawks final flurry of passing in the 4th against a soft defense the hawks only had about 300 yards.

Logic says if our defense is not as salty/efficient and if our offense can score points vs just chewing yards and clock then we better opt for scoring points.

Or is it that we are offensively limited, handicapped (coaching), or just not that good. Personally I think we have some very good offensive players who could score more so lets look at letting them play and score.

West Virginia has a hella good offense. They had 400 yards against Alabama, the most 'bama has given up this year, even more than Ole Miss or A&M.

Syracuse had 366 yards after they got behind 31-13 and Maryland coasted to a win.

I think one problem people have with the loss is that people thought it was going to be an easy game, because we hadn't played them before and they haven't been a power. Add the fact that we started with 2 quick scores and everyone's bitching about Rudock's checkdowns to other plays, etc.

Am I happy? No. Am I realistic about our team? Maybe.

When the ENTIRE defense knows EVERY TIME Rudock audibles, it's a run to the short side. And they KNOW EVERY play is either a run or a 4-yd pass, and all 11 guys are mvoing within 4 yds of line-of-scrimmage, it makes it a little hard to run or pass.

Our line, rbs, and receivers aren't that bad. It's just a pathetic offensive scheme that any D1 team (Ball St, IA St, UNI, whoever) that typically gets SHREDDED in most games, can all but stymie our offense.

Our coaches are just too dumb to figure that out. How on earth have any Ferentz teams succeeded at all? I guess kudos goes to the physical development of them (and whoever is responsible for that). Many players in NFL. They have won games IN SPITE of the coaching.
