Just listen to a Reggie Evans interview if you think the Big 10 isn't honestly accepting any mental deficient that comes along.
You just repeated one of the most pathetic fallacies that Big 10 fans use to rationalize the mediocrity of our football programs.

The SEC, Ohio State, USC, Oklahoma, and Texas have owned recruiting the last decade. They also own all of the BCS titles.
Anyone who says stars and recruiting rankings don't matter doesn't know what they're talking about.

So has FSU, Miami, ND, Michigan, Georgia, and Tennessee. Even UCLA and A&M saw two years since 2002 of top 10 classes.
So yes, sometimes stars and rankings matter. Sometimes they don't.
Rivals had an article breaking down the 2011 class,and once again it is so apparent that geographic locale is the single biggest determining factor in recruiting excellence.
Iowa produced a total of 8 div 1 scholly football players last year. They were like 42nd,with only states that had no division 1 school behind them,cept for West Va..
The Southeast produces so many more than any other region it is silly.
I look at it like this:
The Big Ten is like Great Britian...a wealthy but fading power whose natural resources are now very limited,especially since the far-flung colonies(the south before they integrated) no longer provide those resources.
The SEC is like the USA...flush with both wealth and natural resources,passing up the old power.
The Big 12 is like USSR...not as wealthy,but with plenty of natural resources.
Bottom line....the midwest produced the second least div 1 players after the NE.
Is it any surprise that the schools that have the most prep players around them,recruit the best?
Btw...on the ESPNU Signing Day Preview today,they listed the Big Ten order as follows:
OSU, Mich,Iowa,Wisk,Neb......#3 in the league is very good for Iowa.

Very nice analogies. The Big 10 also thrived from segregation which put southern schools at a disadvantage. Since the desegregation of schools in the south they've caught up about 20 years ago and now they're leaving the north in the dust.
I'd liken the south to that of China. Rapidly growing population and improving infrastructure. Great resources (athletes) and total disregard for the environment (academics, oversiging, etc.)
The Big 10 is like the United States though. Still the most powerful conference in terms of monetary value. But the SEC (China) and Pac 12 (India) will likely surpass the B1G in monetary value within the next 20-30 years.
