Team Chemistry

Bad chemistry trumps good talent 9/10 times. In my playing days, one year our OL returned 4/5 starters from a record setting O and promptly gave up the most sacks in the conference that season. They were a damn talented bunch, but you could see that they just didn't "click" like they did the year before.

here's the best part......But if the lowly Cornhuskers win, Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz will have some explaining to do because you can’t just dismiss what Bazata said.
you know the answer.......just need to clean up a few things

It is pretty obvious. They get up for the big games, and don't for the others. It's called "playing to the level of your opponent" and Kirk is a master at this!

actually, the outlier is the OSU game. Listless against NTSU, ISU, MSU, jNW, MN, WU, PU. Our offense has score 3 or less times in 6 of our 8 conference games. Do you think the players understand the relationship between the OC and HC?

This has been the case since the rebuilding was over in 2005. Not sure if KF's low key ways carry over to the team or what or if KF is a different type of guy/coach when the hawks are underdogs.

But it is amazing the number of big upsets the hawks pull off and big seasons they have when not even given a chance to be just above avg.

But this can also explain why KF has lost so many times as a big favorite, a favorite, or not covered the spread as a favorite. You sometimes wonder if you are getting your monies worth for the ticket and drive to the game or I should say many times you are not getting your monies worth.

i would say that there is a fine line (sometimes blurred) between having football intensity and not, due to the game plan; i.e. field position game, clock management, slow as molasses effort. if you have an edge to start the game, but lose it because you're not being aggressive, then its tough to get it back. couple that with the opponent, practically, knowing every play you're going to run and when, you can play to your competition.

If they can’t be happy for each other, which Bazata said, then they aren’t happy with each other.

The response on the field by players when 89 fumbled the punt was telling.

I don’t know about this one and haven’t noticed or paid attention to it before but when the team swarms up to leave the field at the end of the game, they let go of hands as soon as they started moving and they weren’t in the tunnel. The camera was on Jewell.

Is that normally how the exit works?

Just trying to recall, but didn't we see a similar situation with the offense in 2014? It seemed like some guys were behind Rudock, and some behind Beathard. I remember after Rudock's transfer, Ott said Rudock wasn't a tough/strong leader or something of the sort.

Sometimes such an attitude can infect the whole team. I wonder if that's not what we're seeing now...

Have some players lost confidence in cap.Like hitting your head against.wall no ?

I thought Iowa played at a very high level against Minnesota and Ohio State (they were probably too amped up against Minnesota). I think the intensity will be there Saturday. We need to move the ball on offense!!
