TE group

He's just never made it big like we expected and my belief is that he has big slow feet that doesn't get him open enough and gets him take down easily after the catch. Size isn't always everything. Okeefs wife will tell you that

I've never seen a team with more people who can't catch the ball. Ferentz needs to set each one of them in front of a JUGS machine and fire balls at them as fast as he can until they learn to catch. It's pathetic.

Watch CJ Fed tear it up in the NFL someday. I can just see him now, saying "They never threw me the damn ball, I just needed more targets than 2 a game."

No way that a Kirk Ferentz-led team would ever under-utilize a player though.

I've seen his drops, I'm aware, but Shumpert still plays for some reason...

I would agree on a few of the points above.

1. It's rare that we see him in a route that's >10 yards. His TD this year was perfect execution, and exactly how we should use someone with his size. But the rest of the time, he's running three yard outs and someone his size wouldn't be difficult to cover in that area. Get him moving down the field, and I think we'd see a better player.

2. The drops have hurt. Doesn't seem like he drops when he's wide open, but more when he's pressured a little bit. Seems a bit odd cause he seems to have massive mits and appear like he should catch everything. But he does need to eliminate the drops, though he's not alone on this team.

If he was worked as a tackle from day 1, I'm fairly certain that Kirk could have turned him into a good one. I think he's an OK blocker. Just can't catch and run well.....
