You would think that a white coach would choose his words carefully when addressing black players these days. Using the N word is pretty much the opposite of choosing words wisely.

Still need to hear from the coach here but damn.
 
Interesting he's concerned with "how we move forward as a team" when he's the one that used the slur. My response would be that the rest of the "we" move on without him.
 
The article on ESPN says Patterson used the word with a player who was using it to tell all the players they should not use the word. Still, if you are a white person, you say, "please do not use the N-Word." You don't actually say the N word. Come on, Gary be brighter than that. You are paid millions of dollars, don't be stupid.

I am pleased when I am seeing stories like these stories for two reasons. First, selfishly, it take some of the focus off of Iowa as the hub of player outrage on racial concerns. Two, these are discussions that everyone needs to be having, not just football programs, and education and dialogue on this issue are looooong overdue.
