Tate, Holloway forever bonded by 'The Catch'

I didnt even see the throw... I was outside screaming and kicking a garbage can so p#ssed at kok for running the clock down... Came back in as my parents were going nuts right when Halloway caught it... I learned my lesson that day. Kok is a genius

Interesting you say this…..KOK was no genius and KF readily admitted it was a clock management error. But it is philosophical/instances in time moments like this that shape my thoughts and my reasoning and why I don’t spend a great deal of time running down our coaches or peoples failings in general. The truth is our momentum was shot and although we had time to march the field, a more focused LSU and an Iowa with “timeâ€￾ may have lead to a 4th down incompletion or an INT, etc, etc, etc……an ultimately a loss. But instead a mad scramble and a blown call by a coach or a player for LSU and you have a beautiful moment in our history. We deserved that game and with the exception of about 10 minutes, maybe 15 we outplayed them in all facets, yet we were going to lose save “the catchâ€￾…..

So in review…

KOK was better than he got credit for, but was no genius’…
There are varying degress of good and bad and sometimes they look similar…
Poor clock management inadvertently helped us...
Every staff has its failings including Nick Sabans’…
It is always better to be lucky as opposed to just good…
And the poster who, mentioned it put us on the map with the SEC is dead on….Along with both Florida games and the Gamecocks game, they no longer think we are “justâ€￾ slow…

Good lord Chad.... you never cease to fricken amaze me...

That whole last drive by LSU I could see our defense was totally gassed and could not stop LSU. I kept praying for a miracle. It was painful to watch Iowa lead the whole game just to lose in the closing minutes. What made it worse was the LSU family sitting in bleacher row right in front of us turned around to me, my wife, and my three kids and said "Your guys played a great game, thanks for making it fun!" NOT SO FAST my little LSU buddy!!!! The look on his face when Iowa scored on the last play was absolutely priceless!!! You know that look when a guy gets hit hard in the nuts. I didn't have the heart to say "hey thanks for making it fun" we hawkeye fans have class. Actually I was quite surprised with how respectful the LSU fans are.

I have friends that just moved back to New Orleans from Minnesota last year. Big LSU fans. She would always give me crap about the Big Ten and how crappy they are. I would remind her that Iowa beat LSU. Her replies were always something along the lines of "Ahh hell, no one at LSU cares about that crappy little bowl game", "No one remembers that bowl game", etc. Two days ago, while visiting her, I decided to rock my Hawkeye gold t-shirt with the big, black tiger hawk. We were watching my two kids swim in the neighborhood pool. A guy there swimming saw my shirt, while shaking his head, said to me
"Hawkeyes! They beat LSU in a bowl game years back! I couldn't frickin' believe it!" "that guy caught that ball at the very end...just could not believe that!" I just smiled back and said "yeah...neither could we."

Then I turned to my friend and said "Oh...so no one down here remembers that game, huh?":p
