Tanner Toolson visited yesterday.

Feels like a lean Iowa, but only if the money is roughly the same.

I cannot imagine how the money has changed what these coaches have to do to put together a roster. No wonder so many good coaches hung up the whistle.

If this crap gets much more out of control a lot of fans may ditch interest in it also.

I liked following pro sports as a kid and young adult but I enjoyed following college sports because of the amateurism around it.

It always pissed me off that certain programs and their scum bag coaches and boosters weren’t playing by the rules that were set up to at least try to keep playing field balances and fair.

How long will fans keep interested? How many people really followed minor league baseball? As big of a Cub’s fan as I was I had very little interest in their farm system and the minor leagues.

It wasn’t unusual to have local kids wearing the local schools uniforms. Now it’s just become a farm system for the NBA filled with the newest buy. Maybe the TV show “American Greed” should pick up the new minor league basketball program and make it part of their show.

I understand how expensive college is as I have put two kids through college. I can see where scholarships are a wonderful thing, especially for disadvantaged kids whose parents couldn’t afford to put them through college.

Typical American greed and how that corrupts every thing. Its corrupted our Congress and the Supreme Court, the US presidency and the minds of people who claim to be Christian’s. It’s produced Donald Trump and that about sums it all up.

I share many of your concerns. I don't think anyone wants to go back to these kids being true amatures again. College football and MBB create a lot of wealth, and the kids should get a piece of that action. We just need rules and guardrails in place so that there is some level of equality. One of the biggest reasons that the NFL is the most powerful sport on the planet is that they have a good salary cap system that allows a Green Bay to outperform a Dallas because they are a better run organization. Without such a system, Dallas would just buy championships like the Yankees and Dodgers do.

We need order in college sports. Soon. Or, it will lose our generation and frankly the next generations aren't as wild about sports as we are.

You may be right

I see Toolson committed to TCU.

Out of curiosity I went back and compared Drake"s schedule to Utah Valleys schedule. In my opinion the Drake schedule appeared to be significantly stronger than Utah Valley's schedule. I think it's fair to judge a player by the level of competition they played against. Still. Toolson would have been a nice pick up.

Heck I didn't even know Utah Valley had a basketball team.

He probably made the best decision for himself. I know people derided me for my minutes comments last week but it appears to me Toolson might not even been able to start at Iowa. The Hausen kid from K State appears to be pretty good and most of those Drake guys are good, big guards.

I have no idea what TCU has coming back but we can check them out next year and see if Toolson and Brock Harding are starting next to each other.
