Tania Davis tears ACL

Tania Davis will miss the rest of this season with a torn ACL. She fell on a drive to the basket in the last few minutes of the crushing loss to Michigan. Iowa will look to bounce back against Michigan State this Thursday. Davis was playing her best basketball of the year and when she went out and Kathleen Doyle fouled out (on some horrible calls) Iowa lost their poise and let a game they lead until the final minute slip away. The freshmen Mckenzie Meyer, Kathleen Doyle ,and Bre Cera will need to step up to replace Davis. Hope she has a speedy recovery our thoughts are with her.

That's terrible news! Hoping for a speedy recovery for Tania and she's going to be missed. The Lady Hawks are so very young and I for one am going to need to be patient and hope the freshmen can step it up. Megan and Ally now have added pressure and Kathleen is going to need to be very careful and not foul out. I'll be in Carver to watch msu get pummeled! Go Hawks!

1hawkeye1 it sure would be nice to have WJ.

That's not a good way to start the year. Looks like Alexis Sevillian will get a lot of playing time. Hopefully Kathleen, Makenzie and Alexis will step up to the challenge. The Lady Hawks should be ok till she gets back. I keep forgetting about Cera. Anybody know why Carly hasn't played yet this second half of the schedule?

I think we'll be OK at point guard. Both Doyle and Meyer are natural point guards. Sullivan much more of a scoring point. What we'll miss is the improve perimeter defense we got with the improvement from Davis. Are can give us the defense, but she (and Buttenham) have hurt the offense by being too timid. A reporter who covers the team said it's rehab/conditionig for Carly Mohn just not ready for game time minutes yet. Makes me wonder if Davis would be well advised to take a red shirt next year depending on how fast she heals.

I think Alexis will surprise you with her defensive effort. I really don't know much about her offensive skills. Christina has bummed me out because I thought she'd be a perimeter scorer with being able to rebound but I don't get why she doesn't want to shoot. She's got a good 3 point shot. Seems like we've got a few head scratchers this year. Hopefully Tania doesn't red shirt but if that'd be best for her she needs to do it. We've lost a couple games this year that shouldn't of happened and now losing Tania is really going to put us at a disadvantage but hopefully the Ladies will fight thru it and finish the season strong. Illinoy and psu is still haunting that we lost those and it absolutely is a shame Michigan turned out the way it did.

I apologize for getting her name wrong - Alexis Sevillian - She is redshirting this year. We will see what she contributes next year. I think next year we'll be fine overall. This year I think our defense and offense may suffer depending on who coach has to call on. That's a lot of minutes to lose and Tania was developing as a leader and making real strides defensively (she was not a great defender early in the year) especially over the last 4 games. Chance for someone to step up or maybe more than one. Like the men did when Peter Jok went down.

I got to see Alexis play very early this year. I think she only played in the 1 game and was really impressed with her. By the way she was playing with a mask on so she must of broke her nose. I can only hope the ladies come together like the guys did when Jok got hurt. It might be good for the team........you never know. By the way Alexis and Tania were on the same high school team. That would be kind of cool to get to play with your high school teammate in college. :)

I'm sure they'll play together, but not for a while. When Alexis committed to Iowa I believe she said Tania was her best friend and mentor. Alexis was a phenomenal scorer last year. I think she scored 25 or more paints in 19 consecutive games for a school that was averaging 67 points per game against good competition. We will get to see her next year. I hope Amanda Ollinger steps up next year as well. She reportedly is an excellent shooter from 3 point range and has the size to play inside. She looked to be a better athlete than most of the other inside players from her limited minutes this year, but she got an extended look from coach before the line change was abandoned. Curious to see how she and Jinaya fit next year.

Amanda is supposed to be a 3 point shooter. From what I saw her play this year she's going to be a good one. If Lisa can get these girls with an attitude that they are good and just own it! Have a little swag to them. If we had a couple more Kathleen's would be awesome! Lol I don't know a whole lot about Jinaya. I will be anxious to see her next year. It's going to be very different not having Ally.
