Talented players or good coaching?!!!

Iowa even if they win on Friday will have beaten 0 quality teams. The success this year is due to a ridiculously easy schedule due to a terrible Big 10. That being said, I hope they continue to take advantage of it.
I say this with as much respect and niceness as I can muster. Wtf are u smoking!? Who do they have to beat to ear your respect!? Fing bama? One of the dumbest posts I've read all year. They haven't beat anyone spectacular, but they haven't played like dog crap either. Give them some credit for once a$$ hat

I would argue that the Legends division is much better than the Leaders. The leaders is 2 good teams and a bunch of junk, if Northwestern was in the Leaders they would be bowl eligible.

Iowa has had the toughest schedule this year, before the season a lot of us were thinking 5 wins. The fact that they have 7 with a shot at 8 I think is an accomplishment even though I still complain about losing to NIU.

The Legends division is deeper. But it's still much easier to win than the Leaders. Winning the Leaders typically means beating Ohio State and Wisconsin. Far more difficult than beating MSU, Michigan and Nebraska.

Go look at the record of teams Iowa has beaten. They haven't beaten 1 good team all year. They lost to NIU, OSU, and Wiscy which are the only good teams on the schedule. Its not that difficult for most people to figure out. Fortunately I've seen a few of your posts so I understand why it is difficult for you to fathom. Math is hard.

I'll still take it over the 4-8 record with the even more ridiculously easy schedule of last year....and I hope we can win 8+ with the ridiculously easy schedule next year. That said, I would be extremely happy with 8 wins, and if I'm honest, I'm pretty happy with 7....cause most were saying 6 wins or less...even with this ridiculously easy schedule. Win on Friday, Huge bonus.

That's not even including a bowl game. 9 wins is actually a possibility right now, something I never would have guessed even just 6 weeks ago.

Iowa has exceeded almost everyone's expectations and one of the reasons is their competition has been very poor. The teams they beat have a combined record of 28-50 and the only teams with winning records are Minnesota and Michigan which were toss ups to begin with.

Missouri State – 5-7
Iowa State – 2-9
W. Michigan 1-10
Minnesota – 8-3
Northwestern – 4-7
Purdue – 1-10
Michigan – 7-4

The thing that blows me away is that the teams they have lost to have a combined record of 41-3.

N. Illinois – 11-0
Michigan State – 10-1
Ohio St. – 11-0
Wisconsin – 9-2

With that said Nebraska is 8-3 so Iowa definitely has a good chance at beating them going by these numbers.

Show me one post of mine where I haven't been the most, or one of the most level headed posters in the thread. You won't be able too. You also left off msu as being a legit team. Oh, and we crushed a 8-3 Minnisota team. Almost beat an undefeated NIU team, and went jump for jump with osu AT osu. Got beat, but not blown away by msu and osu....anything else?

The fact that you're talking about almost beating good teams proves my point. Oh and you're right, I forgot about MSU who whipped our ***. Similar to you forgetting how to spell Minnesota.

Well this thread got stupid real fast. But I have to compliment the creative way people use to tear down this season.

The Ferentz haters will say any team Iowa beats isn't any good any way, so it's not a good win. Pretty hard to argue with that kind of logic.

The funny thing is they always b!tch about how we lose to teams we shouldn't. Well we haven't done that, Iowa has beat the teams they should, lost to more talented teams, and hopefully they can go 3-1 against the toss up teams (NIU, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebby)

They're easy to spot...they say things like "No credit for blowing out a bad team".

What kind of credit do you think Iowa should get for beating 2-9 ISU, 1-10 W. Michigan, and 1-10 Purdue?

What Iowa does get credit for and should get credit for is sticking with a damn good OSU and N. Illinois team.

The moment u brought up that I misspelled a word, is the moment I won....later!

A win is what they get credit for...and beating them as badly as they're supposed to, if not worse, because God knows if'n they's didn't we'd have to meltdown like a mo-fo...

Minnesota was never a toss up game.

Before this season started, even optimistic supporters believed we could be significantly better but end up with a 5-7 or 6-6 record because of how tough our schedule looked. The Hawks added Ohio State & Wisconson back to their schedule and they play Nebraska on the road. In addition, four teams on our schedule would be rested and have two weeks to prepare for us coming off their bye week. The Hawks are the best four loss team in the country. The opponents we lost to have a combined W-L record of 39-3 - really 40-2 given the Wisconson/ASU fiasco. The Hawks played all the teams we lost to tough and with a break or two we could have won a couple of them.
You can see this team growing and gaining confidence every week. The Hawks have yet to play their best complete game. We beat the meatchickens despite four turnovers. The odds of winning any game when you have four turnovers are less than 20%. Talent and good coaching are the only things that can overcome that many turnovers. This team played three games in sweltering hot 125+ degree on field temps and this game against Michigan was the coldest game ever played in Kinnick stadium. Iowa accomplished this with a first year quarterback, a true freshman cornerback, a fullback turned running back, no recievers that could catch the ball, a terrible punter and three linebackers who the negative posters claimed all last year were just coach's pets who couldn't start on any other team in America. Amazing coaching or talented players?
The Hawks are young and deep. The young players will grow & improve in the off-season and they'll be better next year. Our last two recruiting classes were made up of almost all three star players with a few four & two stars. Prior to that, most of our recruiting classes were made up of one and two star players with a few three & four stars added in. Recruiting has improved and there's some young talent waiting to play. The next few years are going to be fun because we have great coaches, great players and for the most part great fans.

TLDR

Minnesota was never a toss up game.

It was never a toss up during the game, cause we pounded them. They were undefeated, we were not. Minnesota was giving 2.5 pts. They won @jNW, Nebraska, @Indiana and Penn St. after losing to us. Like it or not, they will end up being 8-4 and a decent team. We went into Minny and won 23-7 rolled up 464 yds of O, and held them to 165. Wisconsin beat Minny 20-7, had 324 yds O, and held Minny to 185 yds of offense.

Minnesota is a decent team, just because you or I didn't expect them to be any good, doesn't mean they haven't had a pretty good year.
