Sweet...Matt Millen to be lead BTN football analyst

Ulysses S Grant failed at every occupation he tried.

Went on to become a peerless US general, two-term president.

Good example.

As we say at my company, it's all about casting - getting people in the right role.

But it is also about credibility. You can hire thousands of idiots who can be entertaining, but you would like to know that the guy who is talking was successful at the the thing he is talking about. So I guess you can argue that Millen was an all star player, which counts for something.

You can make the same argument for Chuck Long, who is on BTN because he was an all star in college. although his pro playing experience and head coaching experience helps too.

Chris Martin. He got pulled from the network when it was discovered that he was an NFL agent.

Did not know that.....went completely under my radar.....There's a Coldplay joke in there somewhere I am not clever enough to come up with one though.:)

I agree with that. For me, Matt Millen has no credibility as an NFL talent evaluator. But that's not what I care about while watching college football. And many, many people who've played and coached football at a high level have failed at talent evaluation - just look at the history of draft busts and sleepers.

As for Chuck, he has enough credibility to be on the air, the question will be whether he's any good at announcing. It's a different profession. Knowing football is necessary but not sufficient.
