Sully out for the season

Maybe Cade will relax and play a little better. He has a chance to finish the season off well.

There have been many years when Iowa had no injuries at QB whatsoever. This wasn't the year.....wow.

Well shit..
I'll be curious if coaches can keep this team fired up the rest of the way. Which credit card/cheese it bowl are we even playing to try and get in anyway? Just sucks when season is all but toast before thanksgiving. How many Iowa fans will be going to bowl game?

I have 0 interests unless its a PO game now, I expect most of the players who are looking at the NFL to opt out of the game. My bowl days are over, but I'll always have 2009 Miami!

Good gravy. This season.

Coming off a bye with a reeling Maryland team, I gotta believe we can cobble together a win there.

I have less confidence about a reeling Nebbie team who may be playing for relevancy and their coach on Black Friday. Nebbie is better than their record.
Debbie has some talent. Having said that, in November, I think teams are about as good as their record.

Well, Iowa's experiment with a running QB lasted about 2.5 games.

Conclusion. Running QB's end up getting hurt. Don't count on them to be there for 12 games. Bring them in for special situations or for a change of pace, but don't use them full time.

It doesn't make dollars and sense for me personally, but YMMV.

Let's assume Florida and 3 days/2 nights with a buddy and not doing any other extraneous stuff at all...

Ticket...$100-ish after tax and fees.

Airfare...$400

Rental car and gas...$150

Half hotel...$200

Meals...$200

Incidentals...$200

$1,250 to piss around with sitting on a plane twice, airport security twice, Florida traffic, and a janky motel an hour from the stadium to watch Iowa battle it out with Coastal Carolina with no KJ, Castro or Higgins and Shaggy at the helm? HARD no. I've been to Florida, and there's nothing there worth it to me to spend the rest of the week hanging out doing other stuff either.

There is still the 8-win season streak, going back to 2015 (not counting the covid year). Getting at least a winning season, has to matter to quite a few players.

If only we could do something for these kids to keep them committed to the program and have some sort of obligation to finish out the year. Like, think outside of the box....maybe pay them? I got to do things all the time I don't want to do because I need a pay check.

The "what is there to play for?" crowd need to realize a couple of things.

Everything is still to play for from Iowa's prospective. Win 8 games, believe it or not, guys don't want to go to losing programs. I mean, all things equal right? No one wants to set themselves up for a shitty college experience where they go to places that don't win. Iowa needs to win. Half of the reason they are in as good of place as they are in the pecking order of the B1G, is because it wins. Take the wins out, and Iowa doesn't have nothing. No NIL, No wins, No football program.

That's why the "play for the future" crowd needs to understand that the future is all well and good and we need to prepare for it, but what Iowa really needs is to win as many games as it can every single season so it doesn't lose the one competitive edge it has on the teams around their same footing.
