That’s not good. I’d be paying that dude some serious coin to stay if I were Iowa. We now have two QBs left named Hank and Jimmy.

Gonna have to pay someone out of the portal anyway now who’s likely not as good and doesn’t know the system at all.

This is a little surprising. Lester seemed to make a good effort to get Sullivan playing time last year. And although Gronowski was going to be the starter at the start of season, who knows what happens after that.

Maybe Sullivan wants to go some place where he is promised the starting job in game 1. Or maybe he has heard there is another QB coming to Iowa. Not sure what he is thinking.

I usually suspect when a player transfers at the start of spring practice that they aren't as high up the food chain as they hoped, see the handwriting on the wall and into the portal they go.

Can't blame Sully, and it makes no sense for him to stay in ICity. He has 1 year left to play college ball, and with Gronowski already named the starter, and the coaches already in love with him despite not seeing him take a FBS snap -- except in the game he lost to the Hawks at Kinnick -- it was clear Sully was not going to get any playing time other than mop-up duty.
He may have been waiting until this spring to see what Gronowski looked like coming out of rehab. That he's leaving probably is actually a good sign for how well Gonowski is looking.
Sully's got some great game film to show other schools, and will likely start at a mid-major in the fall. He will go down as one of my alltime favorite Hawks, due to his gutsy play, willingness to sacrifice his body for the team, and specifically when he ran past the receiver downfield to throw a block. Dude knew what it meant to play ALL OUT!
