Suck for Luck mentality

I was talking to a friend yesterday about the NW game and he said something I've seen posted here before: "I hope they lose, so things heat up for KF."

I am sorry this is one wagon I refuse to get on. I would never hope the Hawks to lose a game. I watched everyone of Licklighters coached games it was excruciatingly painful, but I did it the whole time hoping they could pull it out.

My hope is that they win despite how i feel about KFs tenure as head coach of the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Has anyone else heard people say this? Do you feel this way?

Better question is do you secretly fill this way or does it make you feel better thinking about it after a loss?

Never.

I do cheer against my NFL team at the end of the season if they're out of the playoffs to improve their draft status, but I will never cheer against Iowa.

99topdawg I wish I could have a high draft pick for my NFL team, but it never fails the Bills do just good enough to not make the playoff and draft middle of the pack.

This year I hope to GOD that they don't lose and make the playoffs, because our first round pick goes to the patties.

I never want Iowa to lose games. I would love nothing better than to be completely wrong about Kirk and have the offense go nuts the next 5 weeks and score 40+ in route to winning the BIG. But...that aint gonna happen.

When the Hawks do lose or if they lose this weekend do you find comfort in the fact it put more heat under KF?

I never find comfort in an Iowa loss. Kirk is not the program. They were playing football in Iowa City long before he showed up and will continue to do so long after he leaves. I am an IOWA fan, not a Kirk Ferentz fan. He deserves to get fired no matter what happens this week.

Fight, fight, fight for Iowa forever. But the definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results.

I can't bring myself too root against. However I was able to detach enough in 2012 to the point where i just recorded the games and did something else. If I'm watching live I'll root. Probablem is, its not really rooting, its agrivation.

I honestly don't really care anymore.

Each game is like a win-win for me. If we win, great, my favorite football team won another game. If we lose, it just means that more people come to the realization of what a washed-up fraud KF is.

I cheer for the team, not KF.

Never will root against Iowa altho I admit that I was starting to think that way with Lick. If Iowa squeaks out 5 consecutive one point wins and takes the West, I will be estatic.....not into style points like some on here...just Win! Clearly for some, if KF wins ugly, not good enough....but it is for me...Just Win, baby!

Same as all ... NEVER cheer against Iowa. ALWAYS want Iowa to win. HATE it when they lose.

That said, I'm not above the consolation that the losing might expedite the long overdue change that is necessary to get Iowa back to being a consistently competent team that always has a competitive chance to win and, at least, plays up to it's capabilities and talents without being restricted by bad strategy, schematic deficiencies and personnel mismanagement.

The pick actually goes to my Browns, which is why I usually am able to cheer for them to lose. I will say, though, that I'm sure your Bills got a much better player than what my Browns will get.

Dude, that's like only 8 pts a game. I don't think we'd win any of the remaining five let alone the B1G

No, I want them to win every game. I will say this is the first year I really liked the bye weeks, though. 2012 was bad, but it didn't make me do that. Kirk-ball has now gone so far as to make me not want to watch.

YES, it is a quandary. Rooting for the Hawks and players, but somehow AGAINST KF. Don't really know how that is even possible, but I do.
