Strongly disagree with Dean

He wants Canzeri and Daniels to split the carries.

NOT ME. Canzeri is a home run threat. Daniels, not so much.

I know, I know, "Canzeri might get hurt". Well CJB plays every offensive down (JC doesn't btw) so should we protect him from injury by splitting time with Tyler Weigers???

The bottom line: Canzeri gets vast majority of the touches and Mitchell/Daniels can spell him for a few downs . . . .THAT's IT!

go with the hot horse

he can obviously handle 20-25 carries

Daniels with a high ankle sprain .... him being 100% ain't happening anytime soon

I was going to offer a counterpoint but your excess punctuation and capitalization tell me your side is correct.

I think it is just prudent to use both JC and LD (when he gets healthy) because they both are B1G level starting talent. LD has been injury prone and that is why he hasn't played, but he has the talent. He went for 125 against Ill St and broke off a 50+ run (IIRC) so he does have a burst. His issue this season has been a high ankle sprain. Those suck because they are painful and they stick around forever. Don't give up on LD. He and JC sharing carries is better than either one of them being the only back getting the carries.

I can't describe to you how out of character it is for a KF offense to start a back like Canzeri. I know, I know, Iowa ran Freddie Russell for 2 or 3 years back in the day. Yeah, and Iowa didn't have a choice, either.

When there is a choice, Iowa (KF) has gone with the big, plodding back that can deliver as well as take punishment. See Wieghers. See Weisman. And KF doesn't share the running back load. Does KF think putting both in but at different times of a game puts both running backs more at risk?

If I had a vote, I'd vote to keep Canzeri as starter. I'd spell him with Daniels as long as putting Daniels in doesn't play to Iowa's disadvantage by giving away the play.

Because of Daniels size, I like him as our up the gut runner to get 3-4 yrds. I like Jordan as our off tackles /swing pass running back.

Who's Dean?

Agreed... When they said he was in a boot I wondered why they didn't have him in a boot immediately after the injury. He may have been ready by now.

I am sure he was medically cleared, he got a real good tape job, and he ran the best he could for only a handful of carries each game.

I am sure the coaches felt more comfortable with Leshun spelling Canzeri at Wisky than mitchell or wadley.

But I would think Leshun is shut down until after the bye so Mitchell it is.

jNW is a ball hawking turnover defense so just hang onto the ball.

I dont disagree with Dean because leshun and canzeri were a good one two punch thru the 1st qtr of the ISU game when Daniels got hurt. Daniels was on pace for a 200 yard game against ISU although canzeri was going to get 15 carries or touches that game.

Daniels has enuf speed, more than coker, and can be a punisher.

Daniels isn't going to play anytime soon. Mitchell will be spelling Canzeri

Yes, I want to see allot more Mitchell.

Canzeris performance was amazing Saturday but to only use one back all season is stupid for allot of reasons. It's a thing if the past unless your RB is a total beast like AP or Laveon Bell.

Hopefully we won't go that route.

This would make sense if you knew he was better than Canzeri. PLAY YOUR BEST PLAYERS! If this was single platoon football you'd have a stronger argument.

Kirk, when you bring in Mitchell for a handful of plays, split Canzeri to wide-out. We need our studs on the field as much as possible.

One more thing. As recently as last Saturday I was in the camp that said Canzeri should only get 15 touches per game. I've since changed my mind and want at least 25 touches per game.

Last thing Kirk, since I know you read all my threads, could Plewa and Cox get a few more touches . . . same for Hillyer. TIA. You're the best.
