Story: Iowa Basketball Active in Transfer Portal

I kind of like the Josh Cohen prospect. I also think Iowa may have the best chance at landing him. I guess we we will find out today. Actually, if they could get two, that might be fine.

We gotta land one of these kids. I like Minor as well, but the bigger kid on campus who sounds like a poor man's Garza would be fine too.

I love what we have coming back at the 1, 2 ,3, but we need real help in the front court if Iowa will be viable next season.

We have room and a need for two bigs. I don't consider Patrick or Sanford as a legitimate 4, so the front court is incredibly young and untested. Fill the schollies and let's create some competition.

Looking at his tape he didn’t look like a defense only guy.
LOL all good, just saying that a defensive specialist may scare Fran off. Hopefully those offensive skills are what Fran's interested in as we all know it's not based on his defensive abilities. Now we just got to bring him in.

I talked to someone in the know last week (not Fran) who compared NIL in the SEC to the major leagues and Iowa's men's basketball NIL as little league
While I find this believable, what I find disconcerting is that Fran has not developed his own network of boosters who are ready to back him. Doesn't he have to kiss any rich donor's asses? He has been here 14 years. You would think he has a few guys he could call that could kick in real cash to land a kid. And, while Barta is grubbing cash for other reasons, he has to realize that funnelling money to his second biggest revenue generator is vital to his success.

By all accounts Fran ran a clean program pre NIL, so I get that he may not have the memory muscle of demonstrated cheaters like Bill Self and Kelvin Sampson, but he works in a multimillion dollar industry funded largely by friendly millionaires. All they can come up with is little league money?????

Some of the donors with deep pockets don't see eye to eye with Fran for reasons you may not think about. If I were him or the Swarm looking for hoops support, I'd reach out to the Krauses. Maybe he has.

BTW, do you think these recruiting visits are like Blue Chips? Kid walks into Nick Nolte's office, says he enjoyed the visit and thinks this would be a good fit for college, and then states the price that he thinks he is worth? I just wonder how open and direct this process is now, or if it is still a little nuanced.

Who's that obnoxious guy that sits courtside across from the bench? Maybe he could move a couple rows back and pony up his savings for some NIL deals...

I'm sure he has found a few guys. The problem is, a few guys is still little league.

Over the years have you developed any relationships with some of those deep pocketed folks? Just curious if you have some more insight into their lines of thinking. I suspect they are pretty private and chirping to the media isn't something they strive to do but maybe off the record without putting their names to anything they might talk.
