it’s my understanding college athletes have to sign a form annually saying they won’t gamble on college athletics. It’s really not a difficult concept and it’s there for obvious reasonsHow many fanduel and caesar ads do I see on Saturdays in the fall?
He did the crime, I am fine with whatever the punishment is.... that said, the real bullshit here is it appears that only 2 schools from the state of Iowa were targetted and I would like to see an even playing field.

Ladies and gentlemen, I'll be brief. The issue here is not whether we broke a few rules, or took a few liberties with our female party guests - we did.......it is not like the poor guy bet on his own team. If you blame him, then shouldn't we blame the whole NCAA system? And if the whole NCAA system is guility, then isn't this isn't this an indictment of our educational institutions in general? I put it to you, Greg - isn't this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do whatever you want with him, but we're not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America. Gentlemen!
What gets me with the NCAA and has my complete angst, is how random the NCAA is when deciding these situations. There is no consistency and they are so subjective with their decisions and choosing to be pretty lenient with some universities while using others as examples. Some universities have had much worse scandals such as Penn St., Baylor, Rick Pitino, etc. who don't really have to pay the price they should. He bet on another UI team.
That's the rub.
I would agree with you, but I am still angry that the German’s bombed Pearl HarborView attachment 10233

Are you really saying that Penn State did not pay a price? Here was the punishment levied:What gets me with the NCAA and has my complete angst, is how random the NCAA is when deciding these situations. I get that Noah broke a rule and bet on another UofIowa team, but is a full year really fair? Would the top D lineman at Alabama or Georgia get a full year, hell no. It's that inconsistency that drives me f'ing nuts and I wish the NCAA would just go away.
Are you really saying that Penn State did not pay a price? Here was the punishment levied:
$60 million fine, a four-year postseason ban, scholarship reductions, five years probation and a vacation of all victories from 1998 to 2011.
Now, a lot of that got pulled back once a lawsuit was filed, and the NCAA likely did overstep its authority, but you cannot say they did not at least try and lay the wood on PSU in the wake of the Sandusky scandal.
That’s irrelevantHe did not commit a crime.
With respect to the NCAA, yes. He broke the rules. That’s irrelevant
It's not really the NCAA that is inconsistent here. The rules are pretty black and white on gambling and were put in place then communicated to the players. My rub is that the rules are too harsh in today's environment. What gets me with the NCAA and has my complete angst, is how random the NCAA is when deciding these situations.
