Story: Hawkeyes Set on Defining Legacy in November

Sorry, but it does come across as rah rah rah click bait. If truly a reporter, you should be asking some really hard questions rather than risking upsetting the Iowa AD and coach. These guys (including coaches) blew it. It's not about a team over achieving and a feel good story. It's about saving some face.

The NW story might be better suited for what you are trying to do.

C'mon now Gold. It's just an article. What really needs to be asked that we can't just figure out on HawkeyeNation....we clearly already know how to fix things.

Not true, they were 7th and 8th of the KF era. 63rd (2014) 72nd (2015) in total offense in the Nation, Davis makes KOK look like an offensive genius.

OK, but you're kinda proving my point that KOK wasn't an offensive genius compared to Davis. How many years has KF been Iowa's coach? Eighteen years? That means either KOK or Davis had 9 years of worse total yards per game production under KF than Davis' 2014 and 2015 seasons. KOK was OC for 13 years and Davis for 5, so far. Do the math. And thanks, I'm gonna keep this link for further use.

Finally, Davis doesn't have to retrain athletes from different positions than receiver to get Iowa's go to receivers like KOK. It's just a matter of other coaches keeping them...

I still have my doubts about GD and KF being a good match. KF admittedly has his hands involved in the offense, so he needs to mesh with the OC. It worked last year. Other than that, it's been a bad marriage.

your doubts need not be doubts at all. the match of KF and GD is like oil and nitrogen and water...and fire. Really really bad...and dangerous.

Reminds me of all the negative posts about Ken O'Keefe. Would love to have him back.....

Be careful of what you wish for.....

Agreed. KOK took a ton of heat, some warranted, some not. But I don't think there can be a single Iowa fan that wouldn't gladly tell Ken "we're sorry, please come back", if given a choice. I very rarely believe this, but in this case I really don't believe our (namely passing) offense could be worse, regardless of who the OC was.

Even Rob is reaching the point where he acknowledges that whether it's KOK or Davis or someone else, Kirk just isn't built for innovation. Vandy had that spectacular comeback against Pitt, but something inside Kirk couldn't see why the miracle happened. Which is how a season with a 3,000 yard/25 TD passer can suck so much.

That all might be absolutely true. But the thing is, Kirk will be here for 5 more years minimum. So he needs to find a new OC that can work within the philosophy. They are out there....not very confident in KF hiring one though....I mean...he hired Greg Davis, which I still believe is his worst decision as HC (and there's been a few)
