STORY: Hawkeyes Land Commitment from OL David Davidkov

Our lowest rated commit, Jordan Oladokun, is a mid-level 3-star (granted, due for a bump up to a high 3-star according to 247 guys), with 12 P5 offers, including Maryland, Penn State, Virginia, and Virginia Tech.

For comparison, that's more P5 offers for one player than ISU has across their ENTIRE 12 man class so far (and 9 of those offers come from one guy).

We are curbstomping them on the recruiting trail.
And whenever we read that he had offers from several top programs including..."Wisconsin"...well, it doesn't get any better. That's a good day.

A friend of mine in our "college buddy" chat group put it beautifully. ISU's ceiling is our floor. Sounds about right.

I don’t care much about ISU but it’s been cool to see Iowa beating out legit P5 schools for their recruits as opposed to a few years back flipping Mac players.

I think we are in for some very good seasons in the next few years.
Yeah we did to way too much of that for awhile... I mean a kid here and there at the end of the process sure I can get that. But for awhile there we were the only Power 5 offer many of kids we were getting had. That's been a few recruiting cycles ago thankfully. It's great to be confident enough in developing kids like that up. But it's tough to be consistent and put a whole team together that way.

I think the offensive line signings are a bigger story, long term, than most of us appreciate in the moment.

Everything of lasting value begins with a solid foundation.

If you are an incoming Iowa QB, you have to be giddy.

I think Iowa's recruiting continues to keep getting better and better. If you look at the last four or five years...9 underclassmen declare early. That tells you the talent is there. The thing I like is that the team is also taking on some grad transfers. Cronk on the o-line is a big get IMO...all big ten player.

It would be nice to get DT also...just to add depth.

Very true. From my amateur internet fan perspective, seems like every recruit these days has a compelling "vision" for success and a path to being a big-time contributor. It's not like we're just filling the quota with bodies.

With that being said, more and more underclassmen are declaring early for the draft across college football. And this trend isn't slowing down. So it means that programs have to adjust and find recruits who are ready to compete earlier.

'Amen' to Stanzi's comment above! Over the years KF has never seemed overly enamored with giant OLinemen, and I've always assumed that's because in a zone run scheme mobility is valued as much as size. But with this class of OLinemen -- which includes some giants -- I have to wonder if it's an indicator that BF does indeed plan to gradually move away from zone run blocking schemes in favor of more straight-ahead power blocking schemes used by Wisconsin.

Yeah...but before we get ahead of ourselves...let's remember we beat them last 18-17 and likely because their punt return team tried to mate on the fair catch. Also, remember this...they have a Heisman Trophy candidate at QB this year. Ok...he's got a shot at honorable mention all B12, but let's not spoil their preseason.

Right out of the Cyclown fanatic talking points...

You forgot to mention that he, along with Charlie Kolar, are absolute locks to be 1st round picks next year.
