Storming the field?

The funhaters have ruined one of the last great traditions of the Iowa fanbase. In past years the students would have rushed out of their seats and congratulated the players after such an emotional win.It really takes something away from the moment to only see the players out there jumping up and down. Just one more thing that lessens the gameday environment at Kinnick Stadium.I did see the po-po escorting two gentlemen away wearing the steel bracelets. Must have really sucked to be those guys.

The "rushing the field is a tradition" is complete BS. I attended every home game in the student section from 94 to 98 and can only remember rushing the field once.

This so called"tradition" started when KF won his first B10 game in 2000. Unfortunately its continued.

Thats cause you 90's students can't party like today's students.

Why is it so bad to rush the field, especially after a close emotional win over Michigan, when btw we beat them for the third straight time in school history. And why are you people so against it? Have you ever tried it, it's amazing and fun to do, and no harm comes if it, so why so much hatred over it if no harm has ever happend.

You attended when the team was more or less terrible. Very, very few big home wins in those years. We routinely got our ***** kicked by the top teams in that era.

I have been going to games for 25 years and have another 5 or so years before that on VHS, and rushing the field is definitely a uniquely Iowa tradition that goes back a long ways.

I really don't see why rushing the field is such a big deal to some. Fans are excited and want to celebrate with the guys who just made it happen. I don't give 2 ***** what another fan base thinks about. Or DuffMan ;)

Iowa was decent in that stretch. That included the timmy d and tavian teams.

Because the coaches and players don't want you there.

Have you ever heard the coaches and players complain about it? I really dont think they mind, especially after a big win

We sit right behind the Iowa bench and after every game it takes a good 30-45 minutes to get out of the stadium. So after every game we jump the railing and exit by the North endzone and head up the steps and it takes 5 minutes to get out. So I jumped onto the sidelines and the security dude starts yelling at me from the stands. I keep walking towards the exit and a woman security guard asks for my credentials. Uh oh. I explained to her that we do this after every game and have for years without any issues. I was then told that if I went out onto the field I would be put in jail. Sorry lady, wasn't my intent. Everything the University does is to the extreme and makes little sense. A complete overreaction to a dude running out onto the field.

One of the best things my son remembers of all the games I've taken him to, is going down on the field and walking out of Kinnick, after unfortunately losing to Western Mich. oh, and he remembers fondly the guy who sat a few rows behind us at the ball st game, that kept yelling "suck my Balls State!"

still should save the "rushing" of field for only the "big" wins.

I had a 75 year old yellow-jacketed "security" guy come up to all of the people who were standing in the first few rows of the STADIUM and said "move it back two rows." They were clearing the first 2-3 rows of the actual stadium. Unfortunately, people were waiting to get out of the damn stadium, so it isn't that easy to move back a few rows when people are standing there. I asked the guy "why?" and noted that it was already at least 10 minutes after the game, and that no one was going on the field. He looked me in the eye and said "move back." I moved, of course, but was perplexed why the rent-a-geriatric security "forces" were so militant. They had a definite plan on Saturday, and they prevented...people from standing in the first few rows of the stands.

Whatevs.

-A last second win over a team ranked in the top 5 if we are unranked? Sure
-After a win that gives us the BT title? Sure (can't happen anymore)

All others? Nope.

I have heard players complain about this multiple times.

oh really? Like who, and what did they say exactly? Cuz it seems really strange that a 18-22 year old kid would complain about people rushing the field after a big win (which is one of the great traditions of college football).
