Stop with the sour grapes threads

So you are saying the Michigan State defender didn't give effort on that pass play? Really? And if a defended pass doesn't land on the back of a defender laying on the ground for an interception, maybe Iowa comes away with 6 points more or at least 3 points more. There are lots of ifs during any game. Iowa refuses to claim greatness. What a ridiculous statement. Obviously it was a winnable game. It was winnable for both teams.

no, I'm saying without that one burst that easily could have went the other way, Iowa would have been dormant on offense

and yes. 2002--could have played for national title but lose to ISU. 2009--sit on the ball late in the 4th against OSU w/ a chance to win. 2010--have a chance to beat Wisc and OSU and give up late drives to both. 2015--lose a highly winnable game to MSU by going to sleep on O. Rose Bowl losses of the past era, etc

How on earth anyone can call last night an epic effort is beyond me

if MSU's defender gets his hand up to defend the pass to T Smith then Iowa puts a whopping 6 total points

the D played great for 3.9 quarters and folded when it mattered

face this loss head on and stop claiming that the loss is mitigated by some sort of Herculean effort from this team last night

effort doesn't have the final say, points do

Iowa will occasionally get to the precipice of greatness and refuses to claim it. Last night was easily winnable and the fact that it was a defensive game doesn't make it feel any better
Can't stop stupid from saying stupid

Wow obvious that you have never ever played tough sports against strong competition.

First bolded section - you are crazy if you dont think that was a great defensive effort and the offense played well in spurts against a very tough front 7.

Second bolded part, perfect play action and pass blocking with great route by Smith and perfect pass that the defender couldnt knock down,

Next Second bolded part, lack of your understanding against a desparate team

third bolded part, it was a herculean effort, MSU had to have a Off tackle Jewell on their TD run.

Fourth bolded part, most of these games are not easily winnable so you must be a troll.

1) I retract part of my statement. It WAS an epic on the D's effort. They played an amazing game for sure. But of course football is a team game and in my view, the O's effort was NOT epic. Neither was the special teams. The punting game struggled and so did the O. So yes, the D was epic, but football is a team game.

2a) It was an AWESOME play! I'm not saying it wasn't perfectly executed. All I'm saying is that OTHER THAN THAT, we did nothing. If you take that play away, then Iowa probably does nothing on O in the second half.

4) By "easily winnable" I mean if Iowa would have capitalized on opportunities then they would have won. If you would have told anyone on these boards that we would hold MSU to 16 points, I think most people would agree that we would win. We had to 1) control the turnover battle and 2) score TD's on trips to the Red Zone coming into this game. Of course I know that no game is "easy" to win per se but the missed opportunities in this game stacked up.

So no, having a defensible viewpoint does not make me a troll

OSU 09 was a "great effort" but all I remember is losing the Big Ten Championship
