Stoops possible? probably not, however. ..

You do know that Fry was a total innovator at SMU and then North Texas. Integrated the old SWConference, his teams were wide open, he knew how to coach and recruit and motivate.

I am starting to wonder about KF's recruiting, coaching and motivational abilities even though I thought he was pretty good prior to 2012.

Starting to wonder???? I'll go out on a limb here and suggest that you are not an investigative reporter or a detective.

None. Some of our fans are still bitter that he stole our lunch money and won 3 B1G ships his last 3 years in Madison.

Ok that must be it.

I will just say if we have an opening in the future and he is not hired then what I was told by Wisky-nites that was rumored to be going on prior to his sudden exit had no basis.

Yup and thats exactly what it is. People give Bielema a bad wrap because he was a 34 year old millionaire bachelor in Madison and god forbid went to bars, Tony Franks in particular which was about 3 blocks from his home, and nowhere near campus and had girls with him. Oh the horror!!!! He was never welcome at Wisconsin because 1. He isnt Barry Alvarez and 2. He was a Hawkeye. I live right in the middle of this in Fitchburg, about 2 blocks from Bielemas old house. They were crying like little pussys when Bielema announced he was leaving for Arkansas.
Barry Alvarez wasnt exactly a choir boy either in Madison

The only way I could imagine Stoops coming here is if Kirk is done at Iowa after 2 more years (which I think he will be done) ... And Stoops is ready for a new start as the natives in Norman continue to grow restless with its program. I keep thinking maybe Stoops has it on his bucket list he would like to coach the Hawks some day... Of course, he is not getting any younger and we first have to ride out the Ferentz era ... I am pretty patient with Iowa athletics ... Have been for 30+ years ... And now, I am just at the point like I was toward the end of the Boy Wonder regime ... I am just ready for a change.

I hope as a fan I never become as spoiled as some other fans of different programs. They completely lose track of reality. People would kill for the program they have and don't even realize it. All they know is that its been over a decade since they last won and NC and completely ignore the fact that they're year in and year out in the hunt. What I wouldn't give to frown upon a 9-3 season and win 10+ games year in and year out.

And, that was back in the day when Iowa truly was not sexy and recruiting against the like of Michigan and Ohio State within the conference was extremely difficult.
As opposed to nowadays, where Iowa is incredibly sexy and recruiting against tOSU and Mich is easy?

When has Iowa ever went out and got a coach from an equal or better program? No Stoops. No Bielema. Hawks will end up with a MAC coach.

I'll believe it when I see it, I might not believe Kurt is gone until years after it happens.

THIS!

He would be a great pick. I personally think he is get-able. Did you ever wonder why he left Wisconsin after being in three straight B10 Championship Games? Maybe, JUST MAYBE, the guy with a Tigerhawk tattooed on his thigh was positioning himself to be able to take the Iowa job when Kirk retires. It would have been very problematic if he was still at Wisconsin. Plus, he may have thought he plateaued there or was stagnating. He was at Wisconsin for how ever many years it was. Then, he figures Iowa won't open up for at least five years and maybe eight years after he goes to Arkansas. All of the sudden he has parlayed a 25 year head coaching career without ever coming under too much fire at any one school.

i'm just saying...

When he made that move, I kind of wondered if he was thinking of three jobs in 25 years and maybe he could avoid getting stale at one gig that was a lifetime job.

Just a thought, but don't you think at least one coach might notice that trend among great coaches of getting to the point while at one program that they go downhill and maybe he decides to do something like this. Make it three jobs in 25 years and stay more cutting edge because you are proving yourself three times instead of once and then re-proving or re-inventing yourself.

I sure hope he talked to Barta about this, cuz I'm pretty sure we all think Barta has no clue .

I think Bielema, felt he plateaued at Wisconsin.
3 straight Big Ten championships. Yes, it was 3 straight Rose Bowl losses.

He probably didn't feel, as appreciated, by Badger fan, as he felt he should.

The guy can recruit, coach, and promote the school he is coaching.
He is very media-friendly, and yes, I would take him as our coach, in a heartbeat.

There is a good article posted below about other possibilities. Here would be my choices.

3. Tom Herman, Ohio State offensive coordinator - Knows how to run an effective offense and knows the big 10.
10. Mike Norvell, Arizona State offensive coordinator - Young guy, knows how to put together a great offense.
8. Tony Levine, Houston head coach - knows how to do a lot with very little.

Sometimes coordinators translate to head coaches well, and sometimes they are exposed as not up to head coaching mantle.

Narduzzi and Herman are guys who will be on short lists in the offseason.
Know this, if Iowa pays KF 14 million to go away, they will not be offering 4 million/yr that will be necessary to attract a hot candidate. We will go cheap.

Has anybody ever stopped long enough to consider the level of Iowa's recruiting and how it would translate to wins and losses? Great players make coaches look really good.

Yes good coaches get the most from players but at Iowa, with the players Iowa gets, there is no margin for error (heard that one before?). Nothing comes easy at Iowa. The talent level at nearly every position is pretty average. Why should we expect the team to out perform its talent?

2 NFL running backs who stayed in the league more than a year since KF took over.
1 QB drafted and he never played much.
0 wide receivers to make it the the 2-deeps of an NFL roster

Anyone wonder why Iowa does not have an explosive offense? The answer is right there.

I agree that we have done poorly at finding and retaining RBs.....if Melvin Gordon honors his commitment, things would have been different....same with James White and Clay....Wisky has drank our milkshake.

LMAO. Exactly. It wasn't "classy" of Biels to steal our recruits and then use them to complete the Rose Bowl trifecta while we were doing our best Cyclone impersonation.
