Stoops is starting to make more sense

So with K going to Nebby that eliminates 2 of the 3 DC positions he was rumored to be interested in.

I would be fine with Aiken or him. I would really love to get Mattison form Michigan but that might be impossible.

I thought Coach K was going to Nebby as Dline coach not DC.

I think it actually makes the Aiken rumor more intriguing...think about it Norm used to have linebackers...Aiken could be dline and coordinator and Ferentz would still feel safe that he was staying in house for the hire.

Aiken probably makes less than 400,000 and he would be coaching two things....

Aiken probably makes the most sense. The coaching staff at AZ are on their last legs before they all get the heave ho, and RA has a chance to come back to Iowa with a promotion from the last time he was at Iowa and a ton of pro level experience. I'd take him over Stoops any day of the week.

Not only does Mattison currently make more than we would offer him, but he has to be excited to coach all the talent that Hoke is bringing to Ann Arbor.

Another possibility is that Iowa is waiting until after the Bowl games, and after Penn State hires a new head coach, then Ferentz hires Tom Bradley as his new DC? (Remember the mysterious private plane from IC to Pennsylvania).

And maybe their clearing out some asst space so Bradley can bring some assistants with him.

Just speculation, but something else to think about.

Aiken could likely find another job in the NFL. After being in the NFL for several years, is he going to be excited about hitting the recruiting trail?

You could say the same thing about Kirk, Saban, Petrino etc.

Those three are all head coaches making a lot more money that an d-coordinator would make. You have to factor that in on evaluating whether or not a return to recruiting is worth the headache.

If he views recruiting as a headache :p

Ok, so in the piece on Coach K's departure it says he has a fiery personality, which did not always fit well with the coaching staff, yet the OP still thinks an absolute lunatic is still in the running for the DC job? Do people that post here actually watch college football? Stoops was wildly unpopular with the players at AZ and the administration got tired of his crapola. Is that a fit for KF and Iowa?
