I was sitting in the main stands (PSU section) for the game this weekend. Lots of Iowa fans surrounding us and doing the gator chomp after some big 3rd downs. Some funny/laid back PSU fans had a mixed reaction between laughter and confusion.

Why are we still gator chomping? Did this start after Matt Roth taunted Florida, years ago? This seems like a weird tradition to keep forever.

I don't have as much of a problem with the Gator chomp (and it does make me think of Roth).as I do the Iowa band playing Sweet Caroline. To me that will forever be associated with the Iowa State band and Iowa's 3OT loss to ISU. Iowa's band started playing it much later. Plus the song sucks. If you want to copy someone, Florida is not as bad as Moo U.

Iowa has been doing that since before Roth. I never do it, but i don't have a problem with it. I think a lot of fan bases do some really stupid stuff, so if thats the dumbest thing Iowa fans do, besides the burrito lift, I'm good with it.

The worst thing any fan base can do is the whole "and that's another <team name> FIRST DOWN" thing. Awful

The slogan at Camp Randall is "First and ten WISCONSINNNNNN!"

Very annoying. The best way to not hear it is to stop them and get their wide bodies off the field.

Our "gator chomp" is actually the Star Wars Death Star theme if I'm not mistaken. My only beef is when our fans do it after third down when it's clear the other team is going to go for it on fourth down and they convert.

At that time our fans should be doing the spatula flip to clean the egg off their faces.
