Still Pumped

I know the ISU coaches weren't that high on this team. Many ISU poster on here didn't want to hear it or believe me, but it was simply the truth. They will struggle mightily this year. The meltdown on Cyclone fanatic is classic. Maybe because they were sooooo buying into the "On the rise", "Moving Forward", "Momentum" BS that Pollard, and the marketing department was selling them on.

Considering that between permanent billboards and the electronic ones you can't go two minutes in Des Moines without seeing Pauw's face. At least Iowa's marketing knew we were going to be crummy so they didn't feel the need to cram it down our throats. Although I do like the electronic ones where ISU fans can tweet it and it will post their favorite ISU moments. 75% of them are in reference to beating Iowa.

This is the way I've seen it since spring, and I didn't see anything on Saturday to dissuade me. Maybe you can swap the Wisconsin victory for a win at ISU:

We will be 7-5, 5-3 in the Big Ten.

Northern Illinois (L) 0-1, 0-0
Missouri State (W) 1-1, 0-0
@ Iowa State (L) 1-2, 0-0
Western Michigan (W) 2-2, 0-0
@ Minnesota (W) 3-2, 1-0
Michigan State (W) 4-2, 2-0
@ Ohio State (L) 4-3, 2-1
Northwestern (L) 4-4, 2-2
Wisconsin (W) 5-4, 3-2
@ Purdue (W) 6-4, 4-2
Michigan (W) 7-4, 5-2
@ Nebraska (L) 7-5, 5-3

We will defeat Arizona State in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl to finish 8-5.

A clear QB starter will cement himself during the first two Big Ten games. After the bye week and a couple hard fought lumps vs. Ohio State and Northwestern, we will emerge a rejuvenated program as November begins.

If I were Rhoads, I'd want to be fired at this point. He's a good coach, but not a big time college coach. He's more of a MAC coach kinda guy. He also knows, by now, that there is no way he's gonna turn Isu into a winner. I think he could do well in the MAC, but he'll make a lot less.

Pollard will fire him in within 3 years. And the losing cycle repeats itself.

Change ISU to W
Change Wisc or Mich to L
...and I with ya

The only games I had penciled in as "no chance" games before the season were OSU and Nebraska because they were both on the road and I was interested to see what Michigan would look like without Robinson and Co. I'd probably give us a chance to beat Nebraska right now and say no way to beating Michigan. The rest of the games are winnable, although we obviously won't win them all.

Purdue, Minn and MSU are all VERY winnable B1G games, and I think Wisconsin is also a game we could win in Kinnick. Northwestern is a longshot, IMO. They're pretty damn good.

Here's to hoping we can get back to the old Hawks that improve each week and can be a different team in Oct/Nov...in a good way.
