Still Love this Team

Tough loss. Hard to beat anybody when you shoot 26% (we missed a TON of open shots).

Sunday will be exciting to see where Iowa is paired, and next week is a new season.

21-11, 12-6 in the BIG, third place in the regular season. I'll take it, no questions asked.

This team will be remembered by how they play in the Big Dance. It is a great opportunity.

No this was a WEAK LOSS!!!

Have to move on and regroup....Fran & Co.need to get this team focused next week or it's another one & done...we are about to lose some seniors that got Iowa in this position, they deserve better than today, so it's important that they all get on the same page

Weak loss to a weak team. Not good. You have to beat bottom feeders. I do not like Iowa's chances whoever they play next week.

100% true it was a bad loss to a weak team. I didn't get to watch the game live and seeing the score updates was easier to take than watching it. I know I would have been going nuts. I thought to myself this is still the same team that can beat anybody and lose to anybody. Let's all be honest about that 6 game winning streak. It was great but we had close wins against Illinois and PSU. So, it doesn't shock me and I doubt it shocked any of us that we lost although we should have beaten them.

I guess all I'm saying is I agree with the OP that I still love this team and while I wouldn't be surprised to see us lose our first, er em, second round game to start, I wouldn't be surprised to see us win 2 unless we are an 8-9 seed, which is more than likely where we end up.

I still like this team. But I can hardly stand the inconsistencies. If you're gonna be good, be good. If you're gonna suck then suck.

tired of having my hopes raised then the door slamming shut.

the weakness of this team, and it has been the case all season, is that we don't have great scorers at guard. They do other things well, but they really don't score. Most of our scoring and rebounding comes from White, Uthoff and Olaseni. Having said all that, we are 21-11 and headed to the Big Dance. I am extremely satisfied with this season and expect Iowa to play well in the tournament

I don't know how anyone could conclude or would expect Iowa to play well in the NCAAs with the factual evidence in the first sentence.

We know one thing. Iowa should be well rested whomever they play in the 1st round.

But I thought they were supposed to be well rested for this game, at least compared to Penn State? Maybe you meant - very well rested.

I never like too blame refs for losses & I wont do it now, but you cant ignore a blown goal tending call that created I believe a 6pt swing(Fran got a T & Psu made free throws & scored on next possession)in a close game. Our Hawks put themselves in that position by the game being close & PSU playing a tough gritty Coach Chambers style of game. It was that type of game where one call can have a impact on the outcome of the game and PSU played good enough to take advantage of it. Got to move on, find out where they will play in the NCAA tourney on Sunday and go get the 1st Ncaa tournament win in 14 yrs! GO HAWKS PLAY HARD PLAY SMART!!

We have seen so much inconsistency this year that I think we all knew in the back of our mind that this type of game could happen and probably bound to happen after 6 in a row. It sucks that it happened against a bad PSU team. To me, what makes this team successful is what happens next. Do they rally around this loss like they did after NW or do they fold and get the first round bounce?

PSU has 18 wins, it's not like we just lost to Rutgers. So much stupid on this board the day after a loss. I would feel much worse if Iowa were to play well in the B1G tourney and than come out flat next week. I think this can actually be a positive and help them refocus and get ready next week... instead of getting too many pats on the back so to say (ya know, like the last few weeks). This is a good team that still is playing over expectations... I don't really care who they draw, just the fact that they are in it is enough at this point in the program rebuild for me.

Whoever among us, before the season began, wouldn't have taken an 8 or 9 seed in the Big Dance for this team, please raise his hand.

I didn't think so.

Carry on.

Go back and look at those 18 Penn State wins. Pretty sure they were something like 12-1 going into the conference part of the schedule, and those 12 wins were a cupcake feast. They are not Rutgers, but they ain't a far cry from it either.

True, but backing into it by losing to PSU isn't the way I'd have drawn it up, regardless of what we thought before the season started. I'd rather have played our way up to a 6 or held serve at a 7.

Still holding out hope that we'll still get a 7 seed, but am not holding my breath.

anyone who's watched more than a handful of games this season can tell that there is a far cry between PSU and Rutgers, so I don't know what to tell ya. Maybe watch more basketball.
