Stick a fork in it -- this season's done

The rest of the road is going to be brutal. No way this team wins more than five games the rest of the way.

If Fran wants to keep his job, I call on him to start building for the future now. Bench Gesell, Woody, Uthoff, White, Clemmons, the other upperclassmen. Not one more minute ever for Josh, unless it's clean up duty in garbage time, which I do not expect to ever see the rest of this season.

Start Jok and the other freshmen, playing though Gabe at center. They may not win any more games than the starters, but it would give any underclass talent a chance to show what they have and to begin building for the future.

I'm tired of the dreck the veteran players are giving us. They've obviously given up. If I'm going to watch an Iowa basketball team lose, anyway, I'd much rather see some talented youngsters who hopefully can give the program a brighter future.

It does get old doesn't it? Seeing us play with no emotion, seeing our "veterans" be non existent. I was not surprised we lost... I was surprised at how horrible we truly are. Hello NIT.

I have been thinking this as well. We should focus on getting the most out of any guys that can help us next year... Jok, Dickerson, Uhl, Ellenson. I would go with Dickerson, Jok, Utoff, Uhl and Gabe for starters.

This team has serious problems. I do not see an answer with players currently on the roster.

This will be one long hoops season at Iowa. Maybe a bubble NIT team?

Why would you accept an NIT bid if you're an upperclassman-dominated team that won't be able to sell a ticket for a game? Iowa should simply decline the bid if they don't get into the NCAA so they can start making real decisions.

Done. Potentially last in the big ten. can't shoot, can't score.

For cripes sakes, let's get carried away. We're still gonna win a decent amount of wins with decent defense, however I don't blame people seeing this team as NIT likely. But they beat North Carolina, I doubt Purdue, Michigan, Rutgers, and Northwestern are going to dominate Iowa like ISU and UNI.

A lot of folks do not want to hear this but you actually have to be pretty decent to make the NIT. The selection process has changed over the last 4-5 years. The only power 5 schools that get in are the one's that just miss making the tourney. I do not see this team making the NIT.

Good for you, happy with 8th in the big ten. NC would win by 20 if that game were played again. Open your eyes and grow up.

100% spot on. Woodbury needs his minutes cut by 3/4. The guy is horrible and there is no other way to put it. Clemmons is nearly as bad. Uthoff, is he still on the team? White was 100 times better as a freshman. Gesell still doesn't get it that he can't drive between guys that are like 6-10 and not expect to eat the basketball. Oglesby, well quite simply, he should never ever play again. This team has way too much experience to be this horrible.

That's what we in Iowa like, no real expectations. For goodness sake, we don't want any negative thoughts, right Gary Barto. Just buy tickets and be loyal, but embarased as well.

Thats the beauty of sports, it's already done and IA Won. Each game is a given day, anyone can win. IA has an uphill battle we will see what they have, they need to man up and get a win, man up and get another, man up and get another, another.....

Correct, unless we play some more DII schools at Carver, might be the last win too.

So, we have 2 top 150 guys on the team eh? I would like to meet 'em....This has got to be one of the lowest points this early in the season (incl Lick-ball), when we have a team with a bunch of experienced kids on the team....There are no words to describe....the pain I feel now won't even compare to what I will feel Monday at the dentist office....Starting to become the laughing stock of the state and soon the B1G....very painful to be a Hawkeye right now...

Yes, Iowa beat UNC. But the fact remains that UNC played an absolutely awful game. We didn't necessarily play well, UNC just played even worse than we did that night. That win really isn't going to be all that impressive, IMO. When Paige is on, UNC is tough to beat. We beat them when he was WAY off. Sort of like the 2010 football win at Indiana (dropped TD at the end). A win's a win, but it doesn't really say anything meaningful.

I hear you. I was at both games tonight and all I can say is I'm glad we didn't play Drake. Could you imagine that offensive display? Those two teams would have probably combined for 60 points.
