Steve Sipple outraged at losing to "ordinary" Iowa

Sooo. Shouldn't Riley be on the outs? At least if he's held to the same standard as Bo was most recently he should be. Riley was such a bad hire for them. He only left Oregon st because he was about to be forced out. He was all played out there with his mediocrity. If anyone at Nebraska seriously thought he was going to jump start that program and have any kind of national influence is delusional. He should do decent 8-9 winsish. But like they said if little ole Iowa to the east is handling them and has a higher national profile over the last 15 yrs (not exactly a small sample size even though we've had same coach whole time. How many have they had since 3 or 4?) then they have some serious soul searching to do.

I'd say Eichorst is probably the one that needs to go especially with his idiotic comments about "We had to evaluate where Iowa was" but as Hawk fans we should probably just hope that they keep the status quo and keep slipping further into irrelevance!

I'm reminded of those pathetic middle aged women who still think they are a sexy 20 something. They've packed on the pounds and gravity has taken its toll, but they just don't see it. Still wearing tight clothes and low cut shirts. They're still out and the night clubs. Complete lack of self awareness.

Analogy win for the win!!

At least as media he's calling out the program (albeit over the top). He even called out KF.

He thinks he is being clever with that joke about Belichick, I'm guessing he has no clue that Kirk and Brian actually both worked with him. It's like Lincoln is encapsulated in a bubble and you're only allowed to talk about events up to 1995

Sipple is a homer. Marty and Miller always have him on and he always thinks the Huskers are better than they are.
And they think he's informative. LOL
Homers aren't informative about their program. Informative about themselves but not their team.

They just live in an alternate reality. Jon Miller goes on many of these shows too and is a Hawk homer but is knowledgeable about other teams and is realistic about the abilities of Iowa's.

Surely Eichorst and Barta are related in some way or, at a minimum, they both studied the same "You-Too-Can-Become-An-Athletic-Director" course on Udemy.

What a difference two years make.

The Nebby AD may not think Iowa is a program to compare with theirs but the Nebby media is.

3 of 4 & 2 20 point wins for the good guys in black hats and shirts.

So sad when people see a great program that died and they keep telling themselves it's alive and well. Maybe cyfans and nebby fans can have a reunion and talk about the glory days of the weak big 12 north.

Over the past 5 years, they are clearly below Michigan, Ohio State, Wisconsin and Michigan State. Penn State is now recovering well and has gone past them. They are 2-3 against Iowa and Iowa went to a Rose Bowl, so Iowa is past them. I think they are 2-2 against Minnesota the past 4, as well as Northwestern. They are probably the 7th, 8th or 9th best team in the Big Ten right now. That is the reality that they do not want to admit

In their eyes that just means they're a top 10 team again.

Doch and Morehouse made good points on their podcast. Nebraska MEDIA reflects the fans, in that the media is all whinny and stuck in the 90's as well. As they pointed out when Iowa beats Michigan and Penn St. their media doesn't have a bunch of articles about losing to lowly Iowa, that they should never lose to Iowa, and all the crap their media says. Iowa has consistently beat Michigan and Penn St. over the last 15 years, that is what happens in the B1G, get used to it Nebraska, deal with it, and either get better, or STFU you crying babies.

Yes the Shatel article is slightly better but I've read three pieces (yes there are at least three different pieces about the Husker loss this weekend in the Omaha World Herald) and they all strike the same tone.

No respect for Iowa and a continued sense of entitlement. Its their fault they lost, not to our credit that we won. Never mind that we just beat Michigan. They'll go out of their way now to talk about how crappy their team is to avoid giving Iowa any credit. And god forbid you call it a rivalry. We're not worthy.

It manifests in subtle and not so subtle ways. The lack of respect can be snide references to Iowa's rank in the B1G. Unnecessary and irrelevant references to our recruiting rankings* etc. The entitlement manifests in the disbelief and denial. "I can't believe we lost to Iowa." Why not? Its happened 3 times in the past four years. Maybe the first step is not all the bullcrap in these opinion pieces but acknowledging that you are approximately on par with Iowa. Since 2000 you've won on average 0.5 more games than Iowa each season. That's it. You're a half game "better" than us. So STFU already!

I live in Omaha and have been telling my coworkers exactly the same things in that Shatel article for four years. They haven't listened to me. I'd be stunned if they listened now even if it comes from one of their own.

*This one I've seen before and it always cracks me up. We don't line up paper sheets of recruits, we line up players that have been coached by our respective staff. If not we'd just declare the team with the #1 recruiting ranking NC each year after signing day.

This x 1000. Somewhere/someone (I don't know who) posted the contrast in responses by both the Iowa team and media after Iowa got its rear handed to it by Penn State. There was no comments about "this team not being 30 points better than us" like the Nebraska safety made after Friday's game. KF has created a culture where your record is what it is, and the team takes ownership for performance (good and bad). Iowa has a winning record against both Penn State and Michigan since KF started, so why is it some shock that Iowa is 3-3 against the vaunted Huskers since they joined the B1G? It shouldn't be for anyone who has paid attention.

And if I read another story from the Nebraska media about this game not being a rivalry, I'll puke. We get it, you wish it was Oklahoma/Nebraska of the 1980s and '90s. That was your choice to leave your conference, not ours. It's not Iowa's or Oklahoma's fault that Nebraska's program is no longer at the level it was in the 1980s or 1990s. I guess all the teams in the West are supposed to acquiese to the great UNL program and give them their birthright as the dynasty of the B1G West so they can appear annually in the conference title game against the only teams worthy of "rivalry," Michigan and Ohio State.

Maybe they should award them Ohio St as a rivalry game, it would be hilarious to watch them get annihilated at the end of every regular season. They'd be begging to play Minnesota or Purdue instead but heck they've lost to those teams recently too!
