Steve Carfino

Anybody else remember Carfino bringing the ball just past the half-court line and stopping to hitch his shorts up before beginning the play?

I'm not a basketball fan anymore. I was when Lute and Mr. Davis was around. Steve Carfino was a ," Italian Negro". Trust me, I'm a doctor.

Take us back to yesteryear. Reportedly the first to hit a three in the new Carver Hawkeye. By the way, does he have any eligibility left?

I think I remember that. Bobby Hansen made the first point too, right? Greats teams back then that were very entertaining. They could score and play some solid D. A lot like our future! :D

We need another player like Carfino. Someone who can dish it out, has the moves and can score. Cezar are you listening??? :)

Literally the earliest memory I have, not of the Hawkeyes but of life itself, is watching Steve Carfino on TV while sitting in my basement in Iowa City with my father. Cue the Round-Up commercial.

God I miss the Hawks. For some reason, it has hurt more this winter than most. My gut tells me that's because Fran is the real deal and we are close, so close, to making a run in March again.

For those of us who grew up in the '80s, Hayden and the Rose Bowls are burned into our memories, but at the time, I think the basketball team held an even more special place in our hearts. March was magical.

Amen. Iowa basketball used to be a religion in my house. Carfino, Berkenpause (sp?), Michael Payne, Greg Stokes, Steve Waite ... etc., etc. Growing up, Iowa basketball was my favorite sport, followed by Iowa football ... Sloowwwwlllly ... football took over the top spot. At least the bball program is showing progress.
