Step away from the ledge Hawk fans

Holy cow ... One 18/19 year old kid is absent from practice for a couple of days and the world is all of a sudden coming to an end? For Brandon's sake, I do hope everything is okay and that he does have the opportunity to take the field Sept. 4. And if he is not on the field Sept. 4, well then I still think life will go on.

Some fans writing headlines to get everyone's attention and sensationalizing news like they are "in the know." .. One poster saying "Wegher is gone." ... Really? Where did he go? Has the school come out and said Wegher is gone? Stop speculating. Stop adding fuel to the fire. Let things play out and when the school, or Wegher, is ready to make an announcement, then we can weigh in as fans.

I love the Hawks as much as anyone ... but folks, it's just a game. Life goes on. When you are talking about a world of 18-22 year olds, there are going to be transfers, personal problems, alcohol problems, etc. I think as fans we walk a fine line of getting too caught up in the world of college athletes and athletics in general ... I love college football. I love the NFL ... But my life does not change because one player has not shown up for practice for two days ... And worst case scenario, if Wegher is not on the field come Sept. 4 then so be it. My world doesn't change. But, instead ... I hope he resolves what he needs to resolve ... I think that is more important than what some no-name message board posters (i.e. me) have to say about the fate of a 19 year old student athlete ... I am guessing the Hawks will still be in fine shape ...

Yeah I think everyone knows that. Good thing you started another thread though.

I am a Hawk fan. I have stepped away from any ledges within a reasonable distance of my feet. Now what should I do? I will await your instructions.

Actually I don't think everyone knows this, or there wouldn't be panic across the board with people dying to know what is going on. Maybe most get it, but definately not everyone. I agree with the OP, it's a game. Your life will not be significantly altered if the Hawks miss a player or lose a game.

hawkfarmer ... exactly ... everyone does not get it. And my guess is the sarcastic posters to my original comment are the ones who don't get it ... The same ones doing all of the speculating ...

And just because people want to know what is going on you assume their life is going to be somehow altered by it? People have a dying urge to know what is going on, doesn't matter what the topic is. I don't think anyone believes our season is over if Wegher doesn't play. Doesn't mean they don't want to know what is up.

Yeah, sure pal. You clearly don't work in an office with a bunch of Notre Dame, Michigan, Wisconsin, Northwestern and Illinois grads. The trash talking, the gambling, the bragging rights, the defacing of your office after the Hawks lose to Northwestern or Northwestern State. You just don't get it pal.

i love wegher. do i think 13-0 is out of the question if he doesn't play this year? nope. don't you find it at all interesting that such a promising freshman last year is possibly taking a year off?

i don't think anyone is expecting the season to be drastically altered if the worst happens, we are just curious as to what's going on.

now, i stepped away from the ledge. are the razor blades to wrists okay?
