Holy cow ... One 18/19 year old kid is absent from practice for a couple of days and the world is all of a sudden coming to an end? For Brandon's sake, I do hope everything is okay and that he does have the opportunity to take the field Sept. 4. And if he is not on the field Sept. 4, well then I still think life will go on.
Some fans writing headlines to get everyone's attention and sensationalizing news like they are "in the know." .. One poster saying "Wegher is gone." ... Really? Where did he go? Has the school come out and said Wegher is gone? Stop speculating. Stop adding fuel to the fire. Let things play out and when the school, or Wegher, is ready to make an announcement, then we can weigh in as fans.
I love the Hawks as much as anyone ... but folks, it's just a game. Life goes on. When you are talking about a world of 18-22 year olds, there are going to be transfers, personal problems, alcohol problems, etc. I think as fans we walk a fine line of getting too caught up in the world of college athletes and athletics in general ... I love college football. I love the NFL ... But my life does not change because one player has not shown up for practice for two days ... And worst case scenario, if Wegher is not on the field come Sept. 4 then so be it. My world doesn't change. But, instead ... I hope he resolves what he needs to resolve ... I think that is more important than what some no-name message board posters (i.e. me) have to say about the fate of a 19 year old student athlete ... I am guessing the Hawks will still be in fine shape ...
