Starling is a Royal. Sorry Bugeaters

There's been plenty of college football players that have started out playing minor league baseball. I get that. Not too many that were taken 5th overall. Not saying he can't wash out as the 5th overall pick, (top picks don't pan out all the time) I get the feeling that this guy is pretty legit, and should be playing in at least Omaha by next summer, and is in the outfield at Kaufmann within 2 years. Don't think he ever throws a football in Memorial Stadium, IMO.

Supposedly, they changed the rules. Now, supposedly, your eligiblity clock starts when you either enroll for full time classes, or sign an MLB contract.

No more Weinke's or Weeden's. What a poor rule by the NCAA.

Hater.

It was to be expected, I would have questioned his decision making ability if he wouldn't have taken the money. If he washes out in 5 years, maybe he'll come back and try qb at DoNU.
Funny how you use the word "hater" like an insult or something. I'm sure you had your fingers crossed until the bitter end.

I'm shocked anyone could turn down the history of Husker football.

Funny thing is he turned down the history of Big Red to be a Kansas City Royal. I find that funny and ironic at the same time.

It is, sort of. I could say that you are being petty, but I won't, I understand that a Husker loss is a Hawk win.

We were all hoping he would wear Scarlet and Cream, but I would say that 99% of us understood that there was almost no chance that he would stay in Lincoln.

No, not really. I actually wouldn't even care if IWCC was the only football team in this state. I'd still be rooting for whatever team was playing the Huskers, seeing as how they've become your religion over there.

I will admit it......I am in love with Bubba Starling.......seriously. I live in Gardner and Bubba was unbelievable in all sports. I will miss not being able to watch him play sports and GEHS. I have never seen a more gifted athlete in high school. 6'4"+, nearly 200 pounds, ran a 4.36 forty(I know, 40 times have been debated on here) 40 inch vertical. I saw him rush for 300 yards twice last year and 396 in the state semifinals. I bet I saw him dunk it 150 times over the last two years in basketball. I watched 500 foot homeruns that you could not believe were hit by a high school kid. Last year when he pitched, he easily hit 95 on the radar gun. He is a gazelle in the outfield who catches everything. He ended up being one of the best if not the best player on the 18 and under USA baseball team last summer. Baseball is a sport that he never focused on more than 3 months a year. He was the only kid on that team that played more sport than just baseball. He was rated the number one high school player in America. It has been an amazing experience to watch him the last 4 years play football, basketball and baseball. And he is a great kid too. Talked to him after a football game last year and he had no problem taking a picture with my 13 year old son. I could go on and on, but obviously I am a Bubba fan. So this is why for me he couldn't be a Husker. I am glad he is a Royal. He got $7.5 mil over three years guaranteed. In three years, both he and the Royals will know if his baseball career will be long term. The will either resign him, or he could move on and maybe back to Nebraska as a millionaire. But, I see him making it to the Royals in the next 2 to 3 years.
