Stanzi the Manzi

At the beginning of the game this weekend, the media will be fixated on Denard Robinson. By the end of the game, for the first time in his career, Ricky Stanzi will shine in the eyes of the media. His incredible stats have gone un-noticed so far this year. This game will be Ricky Stanzi's coming out game. The game where he is no longer seen as a blue collar "lucky" no talented average QB, but as the true leader that we have always known him to be. This weekends game will be viewed and remembered as Ricky Stanzi rightfully stealing Denard Robinson's media spotlight.. This is the game he forever sheds the Pick Six reputation from last year. How can the media ignore his incredible stats and talent he has and will continue to show all year long? It starts this game Ricky Stanzi. It's time for all of your hard work to pay off!!! Iowa 42 Michigan 26

His receivers could help him out by catching everything that hits their hands too. I do agree that Ricky is poised for a big time game.

I wish it was true....but somebody on another thread called it when he said the ESPN lead would still be about Denard.

That was also mentioned in this thread. The post starts off talking about how the media will be all about Denard before the game and all about Ricky after.

I think the Ohio connection of Stanzi and DJK will be pumped up to stick it to the wolverines. These guy's have their one shot of playing in the big house. They grew up in Ohio, most likely waiting for this opportunity.Tomorrow is their day .

it will be about denard no matter what. he either has a big day and they flip out about how great he is, or he has an awful day and they talk about how bad he was.

slingin dick won't get much attention

No. Ricky Stanzi is famous for his picks and his 4th quarter magic. This year, the picks have been far and few in between (FINGERS CROSSED!!!), and the only time he had a chance to unleash his 4th quarter magic, it failed.

He's an utterly boring QB on an utterly boring Iowa team. Attention will pick up a little bit if we continue to win. But for the media, there's Dernard, then Pryor, and then the rest.

If you guys care, take a look at mgoblog.com. Right on the front page is a preview. I think Brian is pretty rational in his analysis.

I disagree. He's not an utterly boring QB on an utterly boring Iowa team, he's a top-3 QB on a defensively-led Iowa team. If we're looking for excitement, Stanzi delivers. He's clutch in the 4th and has developed a really nice touch on the deep balls. His pass to DJK in the back of the end zone against PSU was a thing of beauty as well. He doesn't have the sizzle of a Denard Robinson or even a Taylor Martinez, but he's far from boring. Nick Foles, now THAT'S a boring QB.

And this team isn't boring either. We have a highlight factory of a defense and our passing game is top-notch too. Tell me the DJK return TD last year against OSU or the diving catch he made against Michigan are boring. Tell me the 4th quarter against Indiana last year was boring. The reason we don't get the publicity isn't because we're boring, it's because we're Iowa. To 99% of the country, we're flyover territory. And that extends to ESPN. But that's ok, a lot of people think the Colts are boring too.
