Stanzi still #3 qb after trade

KC doesn't appear to be holding all their backup qb love towards Stanzi. Was just reading that they signed Denver's Brady Quinn to be backup to Casile after releasing Orton to Dallas.

I would guess it's still an open competition come camp time, but you get the feeling they are definitely still wanting to see more growth and development out of Ricky.

He wasnt good enough in college to make me think he would be anything more than a career clipboard holder. Its sad but true

There's a long list of guys who had to sit for a few years and still had decent careers...I have a feeling HawkForce is one of those guys who thinks a guy should kick *** from day one, in college or the pros, or he's worthless and will amount to nothing...

Not to mention, as some of the posters above have said, holding a clipboard and being on an NFL roster isn't a bad way to go through life...

For his sake, i hope he is always a 3rd string qb, he just is not good enough. Its a great job to have though

For his sake? Or yours for thinking that and wanting to be right?

Uhh, you can make a lot of money as a 3rd string QB.

Chiefs and Bear fans will remember the name Jonathan Quinn. Had a good gig in KC as a 3rd string qb. He went to the Bears to be the backup, had to play because of injury and then the entire NFL realized he was awful... No more NFL for him..

If Ricky is good enough then obviously I hope he gets a chance, but thats just my opinion.........

As a Chiefs fan I am disappointed. Brady Quinn is terrible. I hope they give Stanzi a chance before sticking someone with a career 50% completion percentage in the game.

I'll pass my judgement on Stanzi when he gets his opportunity to play some meaningful minutes behind a real first string O Line and set of offensive weapons unlike the garbage he had to work with in the preseason last year. His one true chance he played with the second string o line and he took them down the field for their only touchdown of the game.

I hope he at least gets a fair shot at playing time somewhere in his career, and writing him off already seems a little silly if you ask me. Nobody had a problem with him taking us the orange bowl in 2009 and what could have been even more memorable season if not for the injury against NW.

I agree with you totally on the 3rd string QBs making money...I don't agree with labeling him as not good enough yet, without seeing him get a shot or 2 first.

I'm with you HawkeyeShane, you can't say he can't do it if not given the opportunity.

I think some of our Hawkeye friends would rather downgrade him now and be right until proven wrong than get their hopes up for something and being disappointed...I don't get that, but it is what it is, I guess.

I think that most of the pro teams go into their summer and fall camps with a set #1 at qb and the others rotate and are given the chance to compete for the 2nd and even sometimes the 3rd spot. Nothing is set in stone and hopefully he will get his chance. The Chiefs had to bring in somebody for that qb competition, Quinn is a good one for Stanzi to beat out.
