Stanzi looked totoly lots.

Football is a team game the last time i checked. We made way too many mistakes to blame just the QB on this one.

This goes to show before we get idiots in Hawkeye Nation boasting about a national championship run they should check the schedule and realize this was going to be a tough game to win.

The pick 6 was hardly the QB as the ball went through the hands of the receiver. Does anyone realize we gave away 21 points tonight? Fortunately we got 7 back. Also throw in the near TD to DJK that appeared to go through his hands on the drive following the Arizona KR touchdown. How about in a tie ball game to let Arizona drive the field and score on the best d-line in the country? We had our chances. Much blame to go around.

The other disappointing aspect was the play of the offensive line. Our inability to run the football was also huge and our total collaspe against the blitz the last 4 plays was telling.

The good news is we can get better.

This needs to be pinned at the top of the forum! It is absolutely, 100% correct!

Nothing new there...you live with Mr Pick 6 and you die with him. He really is nothing special as a QB at all, he has just been on some good teams and that is what makes his record as a starting QB look so good....it is not what he does.

You may actually want to watch the game next time before commenting on Stanzi.

Play calling: Sucked. Oline: Gassed QB: Indecisive and rattled, showed his true colors with his inability to thrown the damn ball away, could not make key throws. Picked for 6.[/QUOTE]

Do some of you watch the game even???

I dont know what you expect Stanzi to do....McNutt let the ball go through his hands and that is Ricks fault?

spot on

He has to be the most inconsistent QB I have ever seen. I don’t remember the last time our QB looked that bad at the end of the game. And what the heck happened to the D it’s like they were just standing around looking at each other like they didn’t have a clue. I have never made comments after a lost, but I just can’t help it. It’s like the whole team just stopped playing. This is one of the worst losses I have ever seen. I guess now all we can do is hope they learn from this and figure some things out or its going to be a very bad season.

I was totoly lots after reading your statement.

Overall Rick played solid. I do think he was tenative at times. But he made good decisions and for the most part put the ball where it needed to go.
In the last series he had to take the sacks. On the first one it was a 3 step drop and Arizona's defense was on him before he raised his arm. The other sacks were the same. He never had a chance to hit the outlet reciever. The lack of a roll out, screen, or anything to chill the rush killed Iowa's chances, not Rick's play.

I think more than anything this points to the lack of size on Iowa's line. They cannot impose their will in the running game and it shows. Add this to the lack of experiance and it caused problems.

No way you put this on Stanzi. He had no help in the running game and they still managed 27 points. The pick six was off Mcnutt's hands. Not the best ball, but Mcnutt has to come down with it.

He's 19-5 as a starter. You obviously haven't seen many QB's.

OP = IGNORANT

Stanzi definitely had about as good of a game as you can expect considering the horrible special teams play early on, the lack of a running game, dropped passes resulting in a pick 6 and easy touchdowns missed, and an offensive line that completely collapsed in the last drive. Stanzi gets very little blame for this loss in my book. In the end, our team played poorly to start, dug a giant hole, and still almost managed to win the game. Even when we were down 20 points, I still had faith in Stanzi and the rest of the team and thought we would win the game. It's just heartbreaking that we came so close and couldn't quite pull it off.

OP = SPOT ON

When the game was on the line, Stanzi was a deer in headlights.

If pointing out the truth of the situation makes me ignorant and an idiot, well it beats being one of you delusional jagoffs.

You forgot to say that you hate America.

Idiot post of the day (or is that pots?)

However, the day is young and the competition fierce for this distinction... :cool:

Not good? His record is ALL that matters. He didn't make any "bad" passes that any sort of consequences. I can think of just two off the top of my head that were underwhelming. The placement on some of his passes were as precise as anyone pro or college could have thrown them.

I don't know. First Silvanthalas, how many seconds were left on the clock and how many time outs did Iowa have? Before the Arizona blitz saked Stanzi at the end of the game, was any Iowa receiver open? Obviously Stanzi didn't think so. Everyone is freaked out about interceptions...
Stanzi can't throw the ball away on every down. How many seconds would have gone off the clock on a roll out? I wonder about these things.

I am amazed at some hawk fans who were not at the game can come on this board and claim to know what routes were open all night. How can you know what Ricky or KOK were seeing when all you could see is what espn wanted you to see? The hubris of some of the people on this board is uninspiring.

Since when does Stanzi play special teams? They were lost. He only had one pick, that wasn't his fault. Stanzi was fine.

Wow, I am amazed that he was able to have the game he had. Everyone watching knew that he was going to throw on almost every play. yet was still able to put some good drives together and get us what should have been the lead back(missed pat).

The pick 6 went off his receivers hands.

He did make some mistakes especially in taking sacks that he could have avoided(throwing the ball away) but was a long way away from having a bad game.

I think he may have put too much on his shoulders, resulting in taking unessessary sacks, but overall he had a pretty good game all things condsidered.

He also had three or four balls that could've been picked. I know everyone knew he was going to throw the ball, but he was far from sharp.
