Stanley one game in

So far one game in I saw some encouraging things from him. He's clearly big and strong armed and not a statue. Those attributes will serve him well. He'll get better at having a feel for the pocket and ball security issues the more he plays. Experience is the only way you get better at that. All through spring and summer practices I'd heard how he throws bullets most of the time and needed to work on his touch. Well all three of his TDs were touch throws. The 2nd one to Fant he had a little something on it but by no means was that his fastball. He may have some more growing pains as we go especially since he's yet to play a road game yet. I bet if not before this year is out next year we'll have ourselves one heck of a QB he's got all the tools in the belt for it just be patient.

Um, yeah, this ^^^. Not sure the stats, but I'm sure the win percentage of teams with 4 TO's is not good.
No doubt Iowa bucked a whole lot of percentages with how that game went. I'd love to know how many games have been won by 3 TDs while having 4 TOs... Has to be a crazy low number. Iowa was a turnover or two less away from winning by 28 plus points obviously and it being even more lop sided.
Again he's pretty green and hasn't played on the road yet so defense and running game will be what carries the team but it'll be interesting to see how they try playing if Iowa gets behind. There's a lot of room to air it out a lot more than they did obviously.. I dunno. I just hope we all are patient with his development. I think his ceiling is really high.

I was extremely encouraged by his play first game an all. 4 TO's for an Iowa team is incredibly rare, which makes only giving up 3 and not even letting Allen get into the red-zone.

Shows how much Phil Parker and crew have carried this football team in recent years. Our offense is perennially mediocre with horribly shitty years thrown in here and there.

In my opinion Parker deserves 90% of any praise put on KF and BF.
He certainly deserves all of the credit as far as I'm concerned on the defense and winning games goes. Think about it KF puts way more pressure on his plate then he does the offenses side. The offense can have bad games where they don't gain 250 yards or put up 20 pts but the defense they can't afford to have an off game. If they give up 30 pts and a ton of yards we are in trouble. And it's been that way forever pretty much.

Also, hang on to the mother f'n ball.

Exactly. The one worry I had with him. You have to know when to just secure the ball and go down and try another down. Don't try to make a play out of something that is not there.

If the O-line or RB fails at pass protection, it's on them, not you, so don't try to do too much and secure the ball and go down.

Can't argue. Just think if Iowa had a formidable offense on a yearly basis, even just top 50. Can't just have the D bail you out each and every year. It's a luxury the the O needs to really step it up.

I heard a redic stat that all last season, Iowa only had 2 lost fumbles and Iowa had 3 last Saturday.

I know Iowa doesn't fumble all that often but to only have 2 in a year. Wow. I know Beathard most likely had one of them if not both. He'd put the ball on the carpet every once-in-awhile.

I felt this way going into the season and I feel the same now. Stanley is good enough to get the job and will be fine.

The offense will be different with Brian but we will still play to our strength and that's the OL and running game. Stanley just needs to be enough threat to keep the defense honest. I think he proved he can burn Ds with 3 TDs.

The obvious negative was the turnovers but I'm hopeful that can be worked on and improved.

One of them was Wadley in the Nebraska game right at the goal line after a long run if I recall correctly....
