Stanley, Fant '19 NFL 1st Rounders Per McShay

Nah, Rod, I ain't that old. Anywho, I hate this ESPN crap of trying to fill the news cycle with nonsense like that. Guys like you actually go out and find stories, but these morons at ESPN sit on the Davenport all day trying to make up news stories. I don't give two shits what some moron thinks of some kid's draft stock, but these kids then start to get all kinds of ideas in their heads, we drop a game against NIU early on and the kid thinks he needs to go into knee saving mode bince ESPN thinks he's a first round talent.

I'm not an ESPN fan, but I don't worry about those sort of things. I think it's over-exaggerated that these things will affect the players. They're still going to work hard and stay focused on the task at hand. I don't see any harm in it if one takes it for what it's worth.

Fant is a first rounder on his skill and measurables alone whether we win 5 or 11 games.

Stanley as quarterback will be dependent on winning. He could throw for 5,000 yds and if this team would screw up and drop 7 or 8 games he’s not going anywhere. Case Keenum threw for more yards than @okeefe4prez takes vicodins in a week (just barely) and he didn’t even get drafted. QBs depend on their team’s success more than other positions.

Rob, any feel on what Fant is thinking? Obviously if you’re a first round grade you’d likely go but sometimes these kids talk about wanting to finish their degree and things of that nature. Just wondering if you had any insight along those lines. Obviously if he goes it likely means he had another big year this year.

Don't know about Fant specifically, but when we have guys who grade out as first rounders Nick usually wants to let them fly from the nest. Careers are so short these days that you never know what will happen. If you're projected to go 20-25, you might as well just go unless the following class looks mediocre at your position and you are all but guaranteed to be a top 5 pick with the bigger guaranteed money. It would be odd for a TE's stock to rise that much, so if Fant played for Bama, Nick would want to see him leave.

Lets hope for us Hawkeye fans that both of them stick around. We all know Noah Fant is going to the next level in the NFL. The guy is a beast at his position. After last year, I think most of us fans realized that there is a good chance he will leave early. I would like to see him stay, get even better, maybe even make the Hawks a contender in 2019, but that is me being selfish and looking out for my interests.

I could see Stanley leaving early as well, if he has a really standout year, which is very possible.

Obviously as a Hawkeye fan I would like to see them both stay for their senior year. Next years team, looks like it will have an improved offensive line and improved defense.

I think if he grades out as a first rounder, he goes. He can come back for his degree if he chooses.

I like McShay. At first I thought ESPN brought him on to push Kiper out, obviously that's not the case. I think sideline reporters are overrated, but having one of your draft gurus on the sideline works. I value Mcshay's opinion when it comes to the draft. If he thinks Stanley has 1st rd. potential, then it means a lot because he has put the homework in.

sorry, ok4p, you just used the word "davenport" to describe a couch. you're over 50. come on, dude. tits on a boar. davenport. +50.

Shh! Don't let be known to some posters on this board that two offensive skill position players are mock first round draft picks.

Some posters think we never have playmakers on offense.

When he puts on his wraps before going outside in the winter, puts catsup on his frankfurter, and calls his mail carrier a postman, I'll be totally convinced he his over 50.
