Iowa has a solid 11 point lead and things are rockin, then they immediately go in to time killing mode and as a result Michigan gets right back in it. Fran goes in to delay mode too soon in games for my liking. Make sure you put them away first.

Yea. Hi, how are you? I'll have an order of "whatever the hell Fran and the hawks have been doing this season let's just stay with that" to go. And....let's supersize that with a....uh.....a coke.
 
I agree that he maybe slows down 1 or 2 possessions faster than I would like. But exactly when you slow down to maximize your chance of winning is pretty debatable so I'm not worried about the slight difference in opinion. How bout that play that got Uthoff wide open though? Everyone knew it was going to Jok and out of nowhere Woody screens for Uthoff to slip out. Fran is the man for sure.

I think it depends on the offensive firepower of the opponent. Michigan can rain 3's so I say run your regular offense and take first good shot. A 10 point lead is not very big with 3 minutes to go against a good 3 point shooting team.

A team without much firepower it is a different story. But overall I agree with you and think you can run your offense and still take off time.

Exactly! How many coaches would have stayed with that lineup of Baer Uhl Wagner that really did a great job in the zone, as long as Fran did. And the set plays at the end of the game went perfectly!
 
It drives me nuts, but you simply have to run more time to limit the opponents opportunities. For instance Uthoff passed up that wide shot to burn some clock. Then you got Jok who ran it for a layout, didn't burn clock and missed it.

I did cringe a little when Jok missed that bunny but he was wide open and nine out of ten times he scores there.
 
Eh, this team hits big shots and can defend. Grinding the clock in the last few minutes up 10 isn't an awful idea.
 
Mikey pushed it up and blew an opp to reduce clock by another 30.

Jokko goofed up trying a layup and blew it.
Fortunately, MI missed their last for threes in last minute.

So - thought Woody was GREAT tday!!
Strong bench is AWESOME !!

I'm not a fan of just taking the air out of the ball, unless you're up 10 with maybe 2 minutes to go or something. I'd rather see a team run the offense, but be patient. With the 30 second clock, it runs down pretty fast these days anyway..

That said, there was a possession or two with maybe 3-4 mins left where I thought Iowa held the ball too much, but after that, it looked like they went back to trying to execute something again. So I don't think they were too bad today with getting too conservative too early. I'd have to go back and watch those last 5 mins again, though.
 
I agree Fran is pulling the right strings most of the time and it certainly worked out well today and has most of the year. It is just something that drives me bonkers. Happens in football too. Coaches taking their foot off the gas, sometimes too soon. Just had that feeling today Michigan might continue canning 3's and make a game of it down the stretch when we had things firmly in control. Another minute or too before deflating the ball would have not been all bad. All is well that ends well.
