I think the biggest surprise is seeing Welsh ahead of Ward on the depth chart. I don't like it, if only because of the confusion of having a Walsh and a Welsh starting at guard.
That really jumped out at me, too.
Other groups that caught my interest:
WR: I like seeing Willies cracking the two deeps. I think his ceiling is pretty damn high, and he must be showing a lot to earn a spot in the two deeps so soon. Obviously, there are six WR spots available, but did Powell ever crack the two deeps last year? That could be an encouraging sign, as well.
LB: It might be a little thin, but I do think we might be pleasantly surprised with that group's play, assuming they stay healthy. They'll have a strong front four to keep pressure off of them, and what could be a very salty secondary behind them.
Secondary: Mildly surprised to see Lomax at FS, but I agree with others who think that must mean Fleming has been showing a lot to the coaches. I like the idea of having a corner-type at FS for coverage and having a reliable (if unspectacular) SS in Lowdermilk. We know what we've got in King.
