Spring Depth Chart

Would like to see Iowa with a big bruiser back along with Wadley. I'd like to see them keep that bruiser/scat back combo going. Nothing against Toks, I just don't see him as that bruiser.

Depends on his priorities. I believe I read somewhere that Boyle is a Biomedical Engineering major. Iowa has a very good BME program. It might be worth sticking around to get his degree from Iowa. That's a tough program to graduate from in 4 years, so it might take Boyle 5 years to get a BSBME.

But its all speculation on my part without any inside info whatsoever. I never thought that Rudock would transfer because I thought Rudock wanted to be a doctor. Turns out Rudock wanted to be an NFL QB and went for it.

Ummmm, he can still be a doctor. It isn't age sensitive like the NFL.

Just be grateful that Wadley came back. We lost 2 of our top 3 RBs . . . and it was very close to 3 of 3.

Mends is traveling the same career path as DMX:(
I sure hope not... I thought the kid has some explosiveness to his game that would get him on the field more often this year. I know our top 3 guys are pretty locked in I bet. But I'm sure he can get in there on the blitz packages again and maybe even a little more. If he keeps his head on strait I think good things will happen for him.

DMX wasn't going to get time this year. Unfortunately for him injuries really held him back and younger guys past him. I think when you get to see Toks in action you won't miss DMX.

Agree. Toks has a chance to be really good. Still would love to have Mitchell here but understand him wanting to go somewhere where he has a clearer path to playing time.

What is the deal with Mends? He looks to have the ability, yet we watch (name redacted) have up and down games throughout the season and still get all the reps.

How can he be 3rd on the depth chart? Rob, your thoughts?

I'm not one of the people that thinks the coaches play favorites. I think they play the guys they feel give us the best chance to win. Do they always get it right? No. But I'm not buying a conspiracy.

Bower lost his job to Niemann two years ago. Then, he beat out Mends last year. Aaron has the spring and summer to win it back. Cole Fisher won the job as a senior, basically coming out of nowhere.

Let's see how it plays out. Guys develop at different rates. Maybe Mends takes some big steps forward in the spring and summer. And Jones' candidacy for the job should not be dismissed. Hopefully they all push each other and they all improve.

Yep. It's all in the interpretation of that phrase. For some it means "guy we think will make the fewest mistakes", for others it's "guy who is capable making the big plays"

He's 3rd string wlb, which probably means he's behind not only Bower and Amani Jones, but also Hockaday, and perhaps even Garbutt.

They dislike guys who improvise.

Remember when CJB ran in a TD late in the game against instructions? That nearly cost him any chance at starting.
