SI has us ranked #18 nationally. behind: #6 Ohio St, #11 Michigan, #16 Pern St. and ahead of #19 Wisconsin, #21 Mich. St, #23 Ia. St and #24 Nebraska.
They point to our biggest game as the Mich. game on Oct. 5th, but I disagree. Our division game vs Wisconsin Nov. 9th is much bigger since it is on the road.
THE BIG STORY: SI notes our bruising defense and a solid showing in the B1G. They state that we won't be a pushover, but won't be a contender for a conf. title unless QB Nate Stanley plays better in big games. He's 1-6 vs ranked teams.
CAN'T MISS: SI sings the praises of A. J. Epenesa!
KEY QUESTION: Who's going to catch Stanely's passes:
OVER AND UNDER [WINS]: Under 8.5 We not we don't play Ohio St, but travel to Mich, Wisc Neb, and Ia. St. They further state: "More bad news- QB Stanley is 5-5 on the road."
X FACTOR: They mention our switch midway thru last season to a 4-2-5 defense and how well Amani Hooker played it, and how it resulted in the 7th best defense in the FBS. DJ Johnso is mentioned as the successor to Hooker and much of the year depends on how good [or bad!] he plays the position.
