$$$—Sports Betting Thread—$$$

Figured since at least a significant portion of us will be using some form of online or in person sports betting this year in Iowa, might be good to have a catch-all thread for general experiences/info/updates.

THIS ISN’T A THREAD FOR DEBATING WHETHER THERE SHOULD BE LEGALIZED SPORTS BETTING OR NOT. That’s politics, and if you want to discuss it there’s a place called Reddit you can F off to and get in pointless arguments with all kinds of like-minded degenerate scum bags.

Myself I’ll be heading to Grand Falls this afternoon to set up my account. For those not following the news, in order to use a particular casino’s app, you have to register in person at that casino. It’s not a statewide, one-time deal. Registering at say, Wild Rose, does not set you up to have access to Prairie Meadows’ sports book. You have to drive to Altoona to do that.

Anyone else set up an account yet or plan to before Aug. 15?

I wish I could have put just a little bit of money on my Browns a few months ago. Now the hype train has completely blown up and the payout isn't so great.

What I’m intrigued with are the in game props. Betting spread and O/U is pretty boring and depending on what the casinos set as their minimums it could be a hoot.

I am a Steeler fan and whatever the win total is I am betting the under. This has trainwreck written all over it.:)

I will be setting one up at Prairie Meadows before the 15th for sure.

Same here. I was in Altoona yesterday thought about doing a "dry run" ended up not doing it. Go to the sports book area at Prairie Meadows and walk around a little bit.

That'll happen when they put bikini dancers in the corners where they have those weeds growing.
Although...The average age of attendees at an Iowa basketball game is 79; they’d probably sell out every game if they could get Maude and Elaine to sit down at a nickel slot.

Bus ‘em in by the hundreds and offer a noon buffet, and a free t-shirt on their birthday when they put at least $10 a month on their Carver Hawkeye Player Points Rewards Card.

They already have a rule that no standing or yelling is allowed at CHA, they might as well cater to their demographic.

Just to irritate Fry and Moses.....this is so wrong.
Who the hell is Moses?

Between your “mistaken identity” thread and now “Moses” I’m starting to wonder if you might have stroked out and not realized it. You have an urgent care clinic nearby?

I’m gonna be in Vegas the weekend of the ISU game and per usual I’ll wake up on central time so I’ll be lit early and probably bet Iowa to cover. Let’s hope I wake up on Sunday with a winner in my pocket.

Dementia.

The Iowa/ISU game is gonna crash servers somewhere.

There’s definitely money to be made on that one, just don’t ask me which side :)

Don't ask because you have no idea, or because you have an inside source?

Sports gambling sounds like a hoot...except the first time I lost money, I would be guilt-ridden for a week straight, and I think I have a tendency toward addiction. I have sworn to give up Hawkeye message boards many times, only to come crawling back.
